BTSC Meet & Greet - December 18th, Penn Brewery!

Many thanks to Billy52 for organizing this based on a recent fanpost he wrote gauging potential interest in a Behind the Steel Curtain get together.

Here are the preliminary details:

When: Saturday, December 18th - the night before the Steelers' big game against the New York Jets at Heinz Field. A No. 1 seed in the AFC Playoffs could be at stake that week!

Time: 7:30

Where: Penn Brewery.

800 Vinial Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15212

(412) 237 - 9400

According to Bill, "the event coordinator at Penn Brewery will reserve tables for our group near the bar and they're also having a Dixieland band in the restaurant that might just happen to know the Steeler fight song. Penn Brewery has some excellent local beers that they brew fresh on site and their menu includes a lot of good German dishes etc. for those who want to have a later dinner."

Yum!

Bill and I will post directions and other information as the date draws closer, but by all means, please email me or him with any suggestions, questions, or if you'd like to help out in any way, shape or form. I commend Bill for getting this organized early enough in the hopes that some of you folks might be able to make it that are a few hours away. Plans change and what not, but if you don't mind, drop a 'yes' or 'maybe' in the comments section if you plan on attending so that we can be sure to have enough tables and pitchers of beer! We'll follow up sometime in November to try to get a better sense of the head count.

I have a bunch of other trips in the works this next few months, including one to New Orleans on Halloween weekend for the Steelers-Saints game. But my plan is to make it to this as well so I can finally put some more faces to names!

I’d definitely come to that, count me in. Are there any decent hotels around the area?

Thanks

I’d be driving in from Cleveland and most likely would be open to any festivities you or anyone else can come up with for Sunday’s game. I can’t imagine I’ll get tickets but if someone from here has an extra they want to sell, I’d certainly be down for that.

I will come if I can scrounge together the funds

I don’t have tickets to the game, does everyone else going have them?

No money for tickets, but

I think we are going to hang out in da’Burgh and watch the game on Sunday. Maybe if there are folks not going to the game we can all link up again for more festivities!

I don’t have tickets yet either, but I like OhioYinzer suggestion if I am unable to get tickets for the game!

Have Ticket Will Attend.

There are ways to get them, depending on what you want to spend.

I think we should also have a get together on Feb 5th in Dallas!

I wasn’t pleased because we didn’t win - Mike Tomlin (after the 2009 week 2 loss to Chicago).

I obviously won't be able to attend this one,

start my new job soon before this anyway.

I am however planning on a road trip round the US, culminating in the home opener for 2011.

Let me know how many people would be interested in that, or just interested in meeting up for a pint somewhere on my travels.

Let's hear from the group coming to town for the Jets game.

PittsburghArn mentioned this and we’d sure like to see you guys there. So far, we’ve only heard from OhioYinzer and TVsCHACHI. Anyone need any local info or other assistance, let me know.

Steelers Ticket Exchange

I believe this is listed on Steelers.com,
you can get them the day of because they are the print-out variety. Check that out too!

Coming to the game

But won’t be in the City itself until Sunday morning. Staying with relatives in Indiana, PA on Saturday night then staying at a hotel on Carson Street after the game.

Had hopes of linking up in the parking lot during the tailgate. It’s a 4:00 start so the tailgate will be a particularly good one.
