2011 resignings

I am just looking at the Steelers contracts and who needs to be resigned at the end of this season. I am going to rank them in tier's of importance to the team.

Tier 1:

Lawrence Timmons: Obviously by hyimself as the most important re-signing this season. Even though Woodley needs to be resigned as well, Timmons has the potential to be one of the best ILB's I have ever seen play the game and I want to see him in the Black and Gold for years to come. Hopefully we resign him to some sort of 5 to 7 year deal and we won't have to worry about this for a long time

Tier 2:

LaMaar Woodley: He is by far the second most important signing this off season. However, I do not think he is as important as Timmons because as you have seen this season he has not made too much of an impact. I think he could be replaced through the combination of Gibson, Worthington, and Worlids. However, I do not want to see him go. If we can get Timmons to a 6 year deal and we can sign Woodley to a 4 to 5 year deal I would be extremely happy with the offseason as long as we draft well and resign a couple other pieces

Tier 3:

Willliam Gay: We have all seen how good he is as a nickel corner. If he can make the jump to the #2 corner next year we can become a very good, young secondary with him, Butler, and Lewis.I would love to see him signed to a 3 to 5 year deal.

Ike Taylor: He is our #1 corner. We do need him back but he is replacable if we have to. However, I would love to see him get a 2 to 3 year deal so one of our young corners does not need to jump into the #1 spot and instead can work into it.

Tier 4:

Daniel Sepulveda: He is a hell of a punter and it would be great to get him back. A 3 to 4 year deal would be great to get from him.

Chris Hoke: It would be good to resign him to a 1 or 2 year deal so we can keep the depth at NT

Trai Essex: Signing him is not that important if Legursky keeps playing well but for depth purposes a 1 or 2 year deal would be nice

Willie Colon: Unfortanutley, I don't think we will be resigning him because his price tag is too steep. The way the line has played this year the Steelers probably won't make him an offer. But if he recovers well and we can sign him to a cheap deal for 3 or 4 years I would love it.

Tier 5:

Jeff Reed: Not super important but he is a pretty good kicker at home.

Tony Hills: Just for depth purposes

Dennis Dixon: almost no chance we sign him back but could be a serviceable backup if Leftwitch is no longer.

Tier 6:

Mewelde Moore: I would be happier if we did not resign him

Matt Spaeth: Hopefully we draft a TE in the later round's and move on from Spaeth.

Andre Frazier: Mostly a special teams player. Not a big deal if we sign him or not.
