A-Smith out

God damn, looks like A-Smith is out with a tricep injury.  Press Conference notes is that he has a torn tricep-the same one that took him out for a year a while back.  Its possible this is the end of a long awesome career.  who knows.  But our run game will suffer no doubt.  how much I dont know.  But I'm a bit optimistic.  Whenever we lost smith we also lost troy.  if he can be healthy we should be ok for the year.  both being gone is bad, but having troy will help us in the long run.  For what its worth-we're now playing with a mostly young defense so if we can win here on out at least that bodes well for the future.  Hampton and eason are the only 30+ers.  Harrison is not human so age does not count.  we'll have to wait and see :-(

Ziggy has to be the man...

when you draft a guy #1, you need him to make an impact at somepoint early in his career. So far, Hood hasn’t really made a significant impact, but now is his chance. We will see what he’s got as it’s likely he’ll be the guy in Smith’s place the remainder of the year. Eason will be on the other side until Keis gets back. The problem now is depth. Al Woods is the only other DE on the PS…not sure what we got with him. McClendon is a guy they like, but he’s more of a NT. However, McClendon really doesn’t have a NT build and I think he can work in at DE if needed.

you need to check the dob’s. keisel is over thirty. so is clark, farrior, hoke, taylor and foote. that doesn’t constitute a “mostly young defense”.

Aaron Smith out for the year...

is very ominious for this team. Furthermore, I think we saw the best from this defense in the first three weeks.

It’s worth noting that this secondary is showing it’s spots, and they are showing up very, very average. I don’t want to be negative, because I agree that any win in the NFL is a good thing, but I have a feeling we are going to see many more shoot em’ out games before the year is through.

Our pass defense really scares me. That comeback by Flacco, McCoy’s showing last week, and Henne this week. Not dominating by any means.

Yep, here's a quote from an article on the NPC website that I agree with.

“This game was like a microcosm of everything that went wrong last season from crippling injuries to key players, dumb mistakes at the worst times, almost no running game, and absolutely atrocious play from the secondary. And that’s a nightmare I think we’d all prefer not to relive.”

Sunny Harris?

He’s not listed on the Bill anywhere.

If you buy a foreign made product you give money to a person who will not be buying an American made product that you get paid to make. Think about it next time you're at the store.

he got cut in camp

I think It was a Biceps tear before. Word from the Steelers site is that the Triceps was a partial tear and he might make it back at the end of the year.

They also say that the team might bring in another guy or activate McLendon.

I’d like to see them activate McLendon and maybe add D. Worthington back to the PS. I thought he had some potential. He also had the same size as Keisel and Smith. The other backups are all a little shorter and stouter.
