My first Poast … err, Post?... Ever…. You decide.

I figured I would vent a bit, yet not in the way you might think. I am not unhappy at this stage in the game (no pun intended). I think being 3-1 without Ben is very respectable and shows what an incredible team we have.

I want to vent as a Steeler fan. As many of you know, I am the lone Steeler fan at work. That means I get to hear about how we suck, how Ben is a rapist, how we should trade Ben (ummm, yeah, really?), how Tony Romo is the greatest QB on the face of the earth (can you say OVERRATED????), etc.

The latest "conversation" I had was with our lone Titans fan. I asked who they were playing last weekend and he told me. He asked who my team played and I told him the Ravens.

Then it dawned on him

"Oh, you’re a Steelers fan?"

"Yes"

Then he wrinkled his nose as if something stank (something other than the Titans when they played us, I guess)… and the conversation continued.

I then told him that I’ve been a fan since 1973 when I lived in PA, he replied "Oh, that’s okay then" (geez, now I need permission to be a Steelers fan? AS IF!)

He also commented on our Superbowls (because THEY ALL DO. Except the Cowboys fans. They never give me grief)

"But you have won 2 Superbowls in the 2000’s."

Me: "Yes, that’s right"

Him: "You should let someone else win it."

Me: "Let? We aren’t preventing anyone from winning a superbowl. They just need to go out and EARN IT."

Then the conversation ended.

As a Steeler fan, I am TIRED of having to pussyfoot around people who root for other teams because their teams disappoint them and all their dreams have been crushed. I am supposed to be mindful of their feelings?. Newsflash! If your team sucks, that ain’t my problem. Redskins fans, I’m looking right at you.

And, as a Steeler fan, I am TIRED of not being able to express disappointment when the Steelers fall short of my expectations, apparently because we have so many superbowls and I should somehow be content with that, and we really should somehow "LET" the other teams catch up. SO CATCH UP ALREADY! However, don’t expect us to sit back twiddling our thumbs. You want a superbowl? Go get one. But don’t be surprised if you see us at some point in your journey. And if the Steelers have success, don’t be surprised if I enjoy it, even in the midst of all your tears.

I cannot be the only fan with these feelings, can I? Inquiring minds want to know. Well, I do anyway.
