NFL Scores from a parallel universe
Buffalo Bills defeat the Pittsburgh Steelers 16-13 in regulation. This is of course the universe where the Steelers gave Jeff Reed just one more chance.
Seriously, is there any doubt in any of your minds that if Jeff Reed's still our kicker he doesn't miss at least one of those kicks?
I loved him for many years of course. But glad we made the change. Suissam may not be the long term answer, but I feel comfortable saying that he won that game for us. Not just with his final kick either.

i totally agree...
as much as i appreciate(d) Skippy for his previous service – his current performance dictated that is was time for him to go. i was scared silly about the new guy, because everything i read indicated that he was as journeyman choke artist, but he really came through for us yesterday.
Reed was 0 for 4 from 40-49 yards this year, an extremely makable distance for an NFL kicker
I’m confident he would’ve missed at least one of those this past Sunday.
I don't know if I would go as far as to say an "extremely makable distance"
But the facts are what the facts are on Reed.
40-49 is no gimme, even though kickers are making them at a higher rate now than ever before.
I have not yet begun to procrastinate.

In the NFL, 40-49 is extremely makeable.
It’s 50+ that they get somewhat of a pass.

Some very quick (and still to be double checked) math:
There have been, by my calculations, 200 (which is a strangely round number, I know) field goals attempted between 40-49 yards league wide this year. They have made 145 of them for a 72.5% success rate.
Again, I have to double check that math still, but I am too busy to right now unfortunately.
I guess it depends on if you define “extremely” likely as a 73% chance of something happening.
I have not yet begun to procrastinate.

Sounds about right. You should make 3 of 4 if your kicking from the 49 yard max.

He has to kick at Heinz, with our wind and our field I say that drops down to about 50%. Yes, he has had a poor season, but he was better than most at Heinz.
