The NFL network just released their top 100 players of all time. The Cowboys and the Bears had 8 each. The Colts, Packers, and Rams had 7 each. The Steelers have 7. All of them are in the top 70 with Mike Webster leading the way at 68. After our HOF Center we have Ham (60), Bradshaw (50), Blount (44), Woodson (41), Lambert (29), and Greene (13). Good showing for our team but of course I think there is a couple of Steelers that could have been in the list.
Hines Ward- Cmon man put him in the 90's. A Super Bowl MVP. Similar career to Art Monk. He is on his 12th season and still performing at a high level. Here is how Ward compares to another WR in this list
Hines Ward- 922 receptions, 11312 yards, 81 TD 12.3 yards per catch and 58.6 yards per game.
Michael Irvin- 750 receptions, 11904 yards, 65 TDs, 15.9 yards per catch and 74 yards per game.
Ward has a lot more catches than Irvin. I believe Ward will pass Irvin this year in yards. Now Irvin passes Ward in YPC and YPG. Most of Ward's number were a cause of the Steelers being in a run oriented offense through most of his career. Irvin was the 1st WR option for the Cowboy offense of the 90's
Troy Polamalu- The Beast. The Soft Spoken Animal. Ed Reed is number 88. Ed Reed deserves his spot on this list. Maybe its a bit high for Reed but he deserves to be in this list. Troy and Reed played different positions on the field. Reed is more of a ballhawk(FS) hence the incredible amount of picks Reed has. Troy is a SS so he played more close to LOS. In any moment Troy can line up over the center, on the edge, deep in the backfield covering either a WR or a TE. Lebeau has mentioned that Troy's versatility has allowed him to get away with things in his defense.
Troy Polamalu- 22 Interceptions, 7sacks, 372 tackles in 8 seasons.
Ed Reed-48 Interceptions, 5 sacks, 388 tackles in 9 seasons
I think those 2 deserved to be in this list. I cant understand having Manning(8) in the top 10 of all time. He beats Brady Bieber (21) who has 2 more rings than him and the H2H matchup over Manning.
Here is the link down below, and anyone have any player they felt were snubbed from this list, or that should have been ranked higher or lower?
