Can the Steelers Innovate a Bit to Protect Ben Roethlisberger Better?
Jim Wexell of Steel City Insider has been reporting a stat about the Steelers leaky pass protection that is as interesting as it is alarming.
Especially when you consider the fact that Troy Polamalu is injured and will not play, it is imperative that the Steelers find ways to protect Ben better, and the link above discusses one idea for doing so.

Duh
We did not help LT at all against Suggs. We go empty an awfull lot for a team with protection issues. How about Essex outside the LT? We did it for at least one drive in Buffalo, and had a long scoring drive. Just go with a 6 man line and see how that works.
What do you have to lose?:
On the Fence with Essex
There is little to lose by starting Essex at LT, but he did not play well there in previous attempts.

Wow, either Starks is actually pretty good or J. Scott is flat out awful
Or maybe both.

As for CJ, he’s going to get his. That’s what he does. You can’t hold him under 100 yards, so forget that.
