Bengals revert to old ways: sign more thugs
ESPN is now reporting that the Bengals have offered former Jaguars receiver (and cocaine addict) Matt Jones a contract while also working out former Cowboys cornerback (and career screw-up) Adam "PacMan" Jones. The team is also reportedly interested in former Browns receiver (and murderer) Donte Stallworth.
Just goes to show that no matter what happens the Bengals will always find a way to stay at the bottom of the league in terms of character and prestige if not also winning.

if all three sign
that will all but guarantee that their will be many distractiions and very unlikely that they will be half as good as they were this past year stallworth is not a top flight receiver, matt jones sucks and pac man got schooled when he played for dallas. all of these are fine additions to this awful franchise.

The very existence of flamethrowers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, "You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done."

Pac man
must have some type of collection of compromising photos of a lot of people, like the type that was found from that jail in Iraq….. lets leave it at that…..
The guy was good for a couple of games and made a name off himself but had never experienced long term success, for him to keep getting chances is beyond me.
Matt Jones wasn’t special even before he was snow boarding, just an avg. reciever, Stallworth is the most decorated of the bunch and hadn’t done much of anything since he left the Pats….
I thought the bengals were gonna have a down year next year anyway but this secures it.

STEELER KILLER
Matt Jones has always been a thorn in our side. He has always produced against us on all stages. I am not thrilled to hear this news. You can put his name on the list of Steeler Killers. Steeler Killers are average players that always seem to bring it against us. The starting wide out on the killer squad is Carl Pickens. The teams Mvp is Fred Taylor. Needless to say Jones has had his share of success vs the black and gold.

It’s gotta be something about former/current AFC South players. That’s my only explanation of why Ben seems contractually bound to throw at least one pick to Mathis everytime we play the Jags.

it's ben's deal with the devil
for the most super bowl win’s of all time he must throw a pick to mathis at least 10 times in his career….

Matt Jones
Only ever had one criminal or police encounter in his life, and that one happened to be when he was caught by patrolmen doing cocaine in the back of his parked van. Not exactly a murder rap; I’m sure most people have done something equally ill-conceived or illegal at one point or another. So I would not by any means rate him a “thug”. Pac-man and Stallworth are totally different cases…
And Jones absolutely does not “suck”. He is, as Commish pointed out, a Steeler-killer and a damned good WR when allowed to play. He’d never played any position but QB before the NFL, and Jack DelRio had some personal issues with him in JAX.
Matt Jones has incredible speed, athleticism, size, hands and intelligence. And, aside from one stupid night, zero history as a problem player.
It’s a notable signing for CIN, and he and Palmer could well be a force in conjuction with #85 and RB Benson.
It’s awfully easy to fall for hype, but don’t confuse good competition for chumps.
I don't think
Stallworth is a thug. He made the same type of bad decision as Jones did. It cost someone’s life but there was no malice in the killing, it was purely an accident that was enhanced by his intoxication. It is extremely wrong but when you say thug, I don’t think of Donte Stallworth, he seems extremely apologetic and I doubt you’ll see him in trouble again.
As for Pac-man, yea he is a thug.

Yeah, Stallworth
was just plain unlucky.
He was guilty of nothing more than having a tragically bad day.
Wait..."All Stages"?...Am I forgetting when he produced against us in the Super Bowl?

Who knows
Look what they did with problem child Benson last year. Maybe they think they can build on that and fix these guys.

I have a hard time calling Stallworth a murderer
Murdering someone requires intent IMO. And if you murder someone you don’t exactly stick around until the cops show up like Donte did.

i was gonna say something similar
its not fair to call him a murderer……
Sure he screwed up and drove drunk but it probably would have happened whether he was sober or not. Just wrong place wrong time.
He was genuinely apologetic for it and accepted any punishment he got, not the act of a true Bengul.

Going either way on that statement is a complete assumption. None of us know how he feels/felt.
But the fact is he did not attempt to flee the scene or have a friend take the fall for him for a big sum of money (which I am sure happens a lot, see Ray Lewis).

He won't be back in Pittsburgh. Unless he's on the visiting team or has tickets to a game.

you know
how when ppl are put on parole, they’re supposed to find a job so they can be a productive member of society? well the bengals are just doing a society a favor by employing all these ppl. personally, i think they should just add on a team position of parole advisor that way he can help out all the ppl on their team with current/past/future legal trouble.
Maybe
they are subsidising their lack of profits, with tax breaks for hiring ex-cons

I hope they sign T.O.
He tears apart every team he’s with and as soon as Carson stops throwing him the ball he’ll throw Carson under the bus.
We won’t need to beat them, they’ll beat themselves.
+1
Imagine him and Chad Johnson on the same team…I am hoping upon hope they sign him.

Well, actually, New Mexico
is part of the US. Favorite NM/TX story – I actually saw the following bumper stickers, parked within a block of each other in the Santa Fe plaza:
“If God had meant for Texans to ski, he’d have given them mountains.”
“If God had meant for New Mexicans to ski, he’d have given them money.”
Pretty much sums up the rivalry…
