Big Snack resigned

KDKA-TV Sports in Pittsburgh reports the Steelers have agreed to terms with NT Casey Hampton on a three-year, $21 million contract.
The contract calls for $11 million in guarantees. Hampton would have received $7 million in 2009 alone if he had been franchised. The three-year deal makes sense for both sides, giving the 32-year-old security while allowing the Steelers to retain their run-stuffer for more than one season.I was really close on this one, I thought they would have to franchise him first adn then sign him to a three year deal. This is a great deal for both player and team. Casey has his fair deal at a good price and one of the best run stuffers in the game is still ours. Even better, I think the show of faith by him and the Steelers to get the deal done means he will be motivated this year. I see a career year at age 32, yes I said that. He wanted respect for what he is worth, and teh organization showed it, so he will prove them right. Very different deal than Farrior for those that are thinking it will end up the same. NT can play very effectively into the mid-thirties or higher. What doesn this mean for the draft, nothing except the more we shore up things, the more unpredictable the Steelers can be through BPA. Dan Williams seems less likely now, but I will address that more in my next A View from the SteelCage hopefully out this weekend.

We caught the story at the same time
I put a fanshot up on the FP. Good look though

That's how I read it as well.
I was trying to figure out whether he was okay with being tagged, had left, or we had a deal. Useful word…

still
The Steelers still could sign a nose tackle. But i really think now it will be best player available.
I think you're lying about not having a job.
I think that the Association of Beer Brewers of America has hired you to put subliminal messages throughout the site.

I know... now I want a beer.
Happily my pc is next to the fridge… and the first beer within reach is… a Fort Gart Premium Light. Not as good as their dark beer but still very acceptable.
I may be old but I... oh d*mn, I forgot what I was going to say.

Hood ?
A lot of fans saying Steelers might still draft Dan Williams (Tenn), but why would they? They drafted Ziggy in part because they think he can play downs at NT. He’s versatile. With Hoke in place, this is clear signal that Steelers WON’T go DT in the 1st.
If not OL, I’m thinking S/DB or LB.
He's not a NT
They drafted him to play DE. He’s nowhere near as big as Casey.

YIPEE!
It’s like a Big Snack Christmas in February! Glad you’re staying, big guy!
When the tailgate drops, the BS stops. Shut up and play!
We still need a NT in the draft, just not right now
Big Snack has 2-3 years left. He may not see year 3 if his weight goes back up. We have other immediate priorities (ILB, CB, FS, OG, OT, C) in no particular order. If we fill some of those holes, we can make another run for a SB.
Ziggy or Sonny are not NT. Both are only 300 lbs. Big compared to me. Small versus Casey. If there are massive injuries, could they fill in, yes, but it would not be the same.
There is some misinformation out there that Sonney is a NT and weighs 320 or so. He played DT for Carolina in a 4-3 defense, but not a NT in a 3-4.
