Pro Bowl is the NO bowl

Stay connected for news and updates

It's time to do away with the Pro Bowl game itself, I'm sure I'm not the only one who believes this but the game hasn't been any more meaningless as it stands today. Players are to banged up from the regular season so the results are a third of the voted in roster backs out of the game citing nagging injuries. Even if the players are exaggerating I understand and appreciate the fact if a player decides he doesn't want to risk further injury by playing in a post season exhibition game (which is what the NFL Pro Bowl is and has always been). The speed and violence of the Game has changed dramatically, for the sharper, in the 21st century and why should we expect a player to go out on the field and continue to beat up his body for a paycheck that equals a mere $45,000 (that's pennies in regards to the millions they make during the season)

Here's the solution, the NFL should just release the names of the players that were voted in as pro bowl starters and reserves and call it a day. The dog and pony show they do a week after the Super Bowl in Hawaii every year is ok and mildly entertaining but for the most part NFL fans have mentally checked out from the football season once the Super Bowl is completed. Of course this year the commissioner of the NFL, Roger Goodell, tried implementing the Pro Bowl a week before the Super Bowl and although it might have seen like a success is was quite simply one of the biggest disappointments since very first pro bowl....34 players backed out of playing in the game...the most ever! Bye Bye Pro Bowl bring on the NO Bowl
