SB Weekend Wrap from Miami - Parties
Most sports sites have correspondent pieces live from the Super Bowl recapping the week’s activities so I figured I would share my experience with BTSC.
I arrived in Miami on Friday afternoon for the Super Bowl. My plan was to hit up some parties, people watch, eat good food, go to the game, and get out on Monday afternoon. Everything went to plan for the most part and it was an enjoyable weekend.
Now to the fun stuff
Parties: First party was Snoop Dogg’s concert at Mansion sponsored by Coors Light. I had 4 tix and they wouldn’t let me in. The crowd was out of control and the club was at capacity…bad start but a blessing in disguise.
Next we headed to ESPNs Next party at Fountain Bleaue. Let’s just say anyone and everyone was trying to get in..celebs, hookers, pro athletes galore. While I waited for my connections to come through I ordered 2 Grey Gooses and 2 Shots of Orange Goose with 7up….that will be $71. Whoa!!! Once we got into the party it was great. Absolut sponsored so it was free drinks and food. I’m not one for getting star struck, but everyone in the sports word was there. My girlfriend has no shame in asking people to snap photos but I told her to put away the camera unless it was Hines Ward. First two people I saw as I walked in where Chris Berman (glassy eyes, messy hair, sweaty) and Stu Scott. Party Highlights: I got to shake hands with Charlie Batch and Max Starks, but no Hines. All in all this was a good show.
After the ESPN party I met up with some friends and tried to get into LIV, club at Fountain Bleaue…lets just say it was so packed they wouldn’t let Marcelus Wiley and Donavan McNabb in. Instead I went to the 944 magazine party at Eden Roc. I got in no problem thanks to a football player I won't name. Couple of highlights from the party were posing with a cigar in my mouth with some random Tampa Bay Bucs player’s SB superbowl ring on my finger, and seeing that Nick Lachey is about 5’2”. What a first night.
Saturday were headed to the Playboy party. This was a sausage fest with a Guy to Girl ratio of 15:1. Very disappointed, left and danced at Red Room at Shore Club. Highlight of the night: going outside to use my cell and Derrick Jeter holding the door for me, and talking to Gilbert Arenas ( am I the only one that feels sorry for somebody that made an 80 million dollar mistake).
Sunday: Coors Light Tailgate…With some of these parties being so corporate and stuffy this was a good change of pace, burgers, brats, nacho bar, shrimp cocktail, and beer galore. Party Highlights: my girlfriend noticing the big black guy from the MGD commercial, think his name is Melvin. He was very nice and took a pic with her.
All in all the party scene was great. Every place was packed. It was impossible to go an hour without seeing some player, TV personality, or Celeb.

At the risk of threadjacking here goes....
I’m at the post office today and I run into Virgil of the WWE! You know the bodyguard of Ted Dibiase “The Million Dollar Man”. Is that crazy or what? He was the nicest guy. Strange world we live in……
Why won't you name the player?
Not prying but was he not supposed to let you in or something?
Either way it sounds like a blast. Donovan McNabb getting blocked at the door? I would pay to see that for sure. Any chance you post some pics?
We increased our offensive production by 1,000 yards but our points by only 3 touchdowns?

JETS DEY!
Nice Write-Up
I was down there too but stayed in Ft. Lauderdale and didn’t even go near South Beach. Too many crowds, velvet ropes, too much attitude. Ft. Laud was mellower, the girls were just as hot and the drinks were just as strong. Then again I’m ten years older than you so maybe you would have been bored up there.
Your stuff about the Playboy party was funny. Most over-rated party of all-time. Every year guys are killing themselves to get a ticket only to find out it’s 90% men.
Glad you had fun. There’s nothing like SB week, as you know.
