LARRY FOOTE COMING TO PITTSBURGH MONDAY
Gary Dulac of the Post-Gazette reports Inside linebacker Larry Foote will visit the Steelers offices Monday and, if he passes a physical, Foote could reach an agreement to rejoin the Black and Gold .
Foote visited with the Arizona Cardinals yesterday and the Washington Redskins on Tuesday without agreeing to a contract.
It was interesting that his agent said he was all hot to sign a contract with Wiz and Steelers West, but that hasn't seemed to work out yet. In Arizona, his agent said he wanted to play for a championship team.
Of course, that doesn't explain what he was doing at Redskins Park earlier in the week, because - if there's one sure thing in this world, it is that the Redskins ain't goin' to no Super Bowl in the foreseeable future.
So pay no nevermind to what Foote's agent says this weekend....but it would be nice to have him back at inside linebacker. We'll wait until we see his signature on that dotted line before we do any celebrating.

At some point
everyone added needs to play special teams, can Foote?
Or
be an option to start next year and in the future, which would be a no for Foote.
Tough call.
If you buy a foreign made product you give money to a person who will not be buying an American made product that you get paid to make. Think about it next time you're at the store.
co-sign
I would like to have him back but either him and/or Timmons will have to play ST. So now we’re looking at Pots, Foote and Timmons, KFox as our inside backers… not bad but we’re not getting any younger. If BB doesn’t make it back this year, we’re screwed.
Alright, okay, I don't dance, no way I just take my Terrible Towel out and wave it around in the air!!!!
I am waiting for the reaction
if you turn out to be right. I don’t expect you to be but it will be interesting if it happens.
I may be old but I... oh d*mn, I forgot what I was going to say.

how would he fit?
timmons is a 3 down guy. maybe take him out on the goalline?
farrior has lost a step and would benefit from being a 2 down guy, but are foote’s coverage skills good enough?
all he brings is depth in case of injury… so he might be too expensive if thats all he’s bringing

We should replace Farrior with Foote.
Who's laughing now, O Line??? Ben Roethlisberger (from the Podium) to his O-Line and the world in Superbowl XLIII

Timmons and Foote start
Farrior is done. He has lost too many steps to be an NFL ILB. Thanks for the memories. Draft and ILB and let him learn.
Let Farrior help coach.

DOUGHBOY BACK
Not bad idea. How much money? Problem is getting it to work. Put Foote back with Farrior in starting role, allows Timmons to play Nickel and spell on the outside(where he should be anyway). Should become replacement outside (needed for age or contracts due). Fox and Timmons backing inside and Timmons spelling on outside allows us draft flexability. We have addressed most needs in FA ( NT, Safety w/ depth,WR w/ ST depth). Draft BPA
timmons wont lose the starting job to foote
hes way better at this point in their careers

I do agree
he shouldnt lose starting roll, just think it would be a good team move Would you go for sign Foote cut Farrior.Move Timmons to Farriors spot and draft OLB in round 1.

All this means
they will have the flexibility to do what they want to do in the draft. They can trade picks and not worry about not filling a hole. If they like a guy they will trade to get him, if they don’t like anyone they will wait and see who falls. All these signings means that the Steelers really want to add depth for this year and will use the draft for the future as usual. People you have to remember 2011 is no certainty. The steelers have made it a point they want to win this year, why not add vertern depth and limit the impact of injuries. I don’t believe this changes anything.
Steelers football is 60 mins.
My initial reaction to a Foote return, is "no".
The Steelers need youth on the team, not a 29 year old LB.
Sure, he may be a leader. Sure, he may be a locker room force. Troy is both of those things as well. As is Farrior. And don’t give me that “Farrior is old” stuff.
Nostalgia is a good thing, but not for a team with championship aspirations. I thank The Foote Stomp for his help in SB 40, but this is a different team now.

In the football world, yes.
Haven’t we been talking about Parker being 30 all off season?

Different positions
have different aging process, I think 29 isn’t that bad for ILB especially a back up.

I think ILB's have the same aging process as RB's
LB’s hit RB’s with the same frequency as RB’s hit LB’s…

Yes he does and can,
but what’s wrong with Farrior mentoring Keyaron?

my favorite line
if there’s one sure thing in this world, it is that the Redskins ain’t goin’ to no Super Bowl in the foreseeable future.
I would love to add Foote, it would really increase LEBeau’s ability to use Timmons in versatile ways.
Last year they didn’t trust Fox too often, but Foote is a top tier run-stuffer who is not a liability in zone coverage, I’m not saying he’s Andy Russel, but he’s good enough to cover the short middle or a flat.
I don’t think anyone is going to give him a starting job, and then it will come to secondary priorities, does he want to come back and play for us, or would that go against his pride? Does he just go where the money is? I don’t know, but man I would love to have him back. Larry Foote and Earl Holmes never got the acclaim of the other guys, but they were huge parts of those run crushing defenses.
People are dismissing Farrior
Just because he had one bad year. We know he’s getting old, but how was he too old last season and not too old in 2008?
If he comes back next year and has a good season, which I believe he will, everybody is going to have to eat crow.
Remember after 2006 when Ike was washed up?

No dissing Farrior here. I just saying Foote is a big upgrade over Fox. One that would allow Timmons to move around. I love Farrior.

According to MSNBC
he’s back…! Welcome home Foote!
