Larry Foote Talks About His Return To Pittsburgh - Part 2
Let's check in with Larry Foote one more time to here him expound upon some of his feelings about why he's so excited to be back in Pittsburgh. The clips is part of the same interview on The Drive on 1250 ESPN Radio. Many thanks to the guys there for the candid interview and sending it over.
On coming home to Pittsburgh:
"Just the embrace that I got from the coaches, it's a warm family atmosphere. I've never experienced before this year what I did going 2-14, just being in a situation like that. It's different, you can't really explain it, you just got to go through it. And going through it was just miserable. The Steelers are just a Class A organization. They want to win by any means. But just the quality of people they got there, they know what they're doing. And this is home! It's not where I was born, but football wise I've been here 7 years away from where I grew up at. But just this town, it's different when you go to another organization. Trust me. Just seeing that black and gold, being on the other side of it last year. Seeing them towels, and watching them on T.V, and traveling to hotels and there's only like 5 or 10 fans. Normally there's thousands when you're playing for Pittsburgh. It's a different feeling, and I just thank God for giving me the opportunity to come back here. I mean, my heart was beating fast when I knew last week that they were really serious about bringing me back. And on top of that, there's guys there that I love. Teammates on the team that I truly love being around as fans, there's coaching staff that I know and respect and love, the community, I've got my man Mike Logan even though he's too busy for me now. So it was just..God has truly blessed me today. No doubt about it."
On if he plans to win Super Bowl number three with the Steelers before his time in the 'Burgh comes to a close:
"Third? I'm thinking about four or five. But you got to get three first so. With our quarterback, the defense and the coach - everything's in tact. It's hard to win a Super Bowl. I ain't going to sit up here and guarantee this or that, the ball's gotta bounce your way. But there's only a few teams every year that really have a legitimate shot, and we're definitely one of them."

Glad to have him back
He sounds really stoked. How many teams do you hear players talk this way about?

Frank Walker was saying he is willing to do anything to stay with the Ravens.
But the Fans are saying they are willing to do anything to get rid of him.

I can't believe how stoked he is actually.
Super happy hes back.
Just to think, if we had him last year we may have made the playoffs. That could have been the only difference we needed.
Depth this year replace Farrior next
I’m happy to have Larry Foote back as well. They gave him a nice salary which leads me to believe he will be replacing James Farrior by 2011 or 2012. I look forward to his contributions this year. Defense should be better with added depth at LB and S. Both positions will get deeper with the draft. I believe we will still draft both positions in the 3rd and 4th rounds.
That's how you be great!
Man...
He’s gushing so much it almost sounds like hyperbole. Almost.

I'm thrilled to have him back
Other than the issue with Ben, this has been a really positive off-season so far. Bringing back Clark and Randle El, and now Foote! This is great! I think we’ll be right back in the mix next season, and we still don’t know who our draft picks will be.

I'm thinking they might give up a few picks to get a really good value player or two
in the 2nd or 3rd.

yesss im glad to have him back. Farrior should have been gone last year instead of Foote. He also knows that the glory in winning a championship has instead of a couple of extra million he could have made elsewhere.

Re: Farrior
In hindsight, perhaps, however, at the end of the prior season, there was no reason to believe that Farrior could not come back and play at the same level.

Jim Wexell on who he believes will be the Steelers no. 1 pick
http://pit.scout.com/2/954447.html
It’s a free story. He believes it will be between Iupati & Earl Thomas from Texas. Unless Thomas can play QB, I don’t think the Steelers will be taking him in the first round. He also didn’t mention Dan Williams in his odds, so I guess he doesn’t think he’ll be there.
I’m still wondering why no love for CB Kyle Wilson in a trade down a couple of slots or just flat out taking him at no. 18, if there are no takers to trade down. Time to get another playmaker back there besides Polamula, because we know that Clark and Taylor aren’t playmakers.
Thoughts?
I was about to say
and Thomas can play CB
