Tomlin in FL looking at Tebow...

I know we are all tired of the Big Ben talk by now, but no matter what the outcome, I personally ( and many others i'm sure ) want him as my starting QB since he gives us the best possible chance to win...maybe the FO is not as supportive as I am though. Tomlin is one of a handful of coaches that wants a look at Tebow, according to Rivals.com...What do you guys think?

I've always liked Tebow...

But not before the fourth, maybe… maaaaybe third, but I’d really rather not. It all comes down to Tomlin and the FO though. Like all draft chatter, we’ll see I guess.

Wishful thinking

in previous regimes we drafted funky QB/RB/WR types like Kordell, ARE, etc, but I think those days are over.

WINNAR!

With the 18th pick of the 2010 NFL Draft the Pittsburgh Steelers select Florida QB Tim Tebow. (not a RB!)

by Johnny_S on Mar 17, 2010 5:33 PM EDT reply actions

Tomlin more interested in Haden, Pouncey

I do think the Steelers need to get a 3rd QB out of this draft somewhere on the last day. I’m thinking Ryan Perriloux that used to play with LSU but then transferred or that guy out of Fordam. I think Batch is just a clip board carrier at this point.

It was Florida workout day

In my opinion, he wasn’t there for Tebow. He was there to check out Haden, Spikes, and Pouncey.

…is this a tip of the hat that Steelers are looking to move up to get Haden??

by IndieSteelFan on Mar 17, 2010 6:33 PM EDT reply actions

Haden's been falling a bit since his slow 40 time

And that Kris Wilson guy has moved up. I seriously doubt the Steelers will move up in this draft. They’ll take the best player available at 18. They can’t afford to give up any mid-round picks to move up in the 1st.

Kyle Wilson seems like a better fit for our system

Apparently, Kyle is not just a cover corner. He’s a potential #1 CB, and pretty good against the run, I hear.

Its the Florida team in general he's looking at I'm sure.

Tebow is not the only player on that team, though I won’t fault anyone for thinking that with how he has been portrayed.

I really can’t wait till he gets in, falls on his face, and is then summarily forgotten about by everyone.

And I LIKE Tebow! That’s how horrible this coverage of him has been.

PS: That doesn’t mean I want him on the team. I would rather see Dixon get some more playing time then have them draft Tebow for back up.

We increased our offensive production by 1,000 yards but our points by only 3 touchdowns?

Same here man

It’s truly sickening seeing scouts ignore prospects who will have more impact on their teams for the sake of trying convert Tebow into a pro QB. One of many faults of the NFL.

And I too was a fan of Tebow while he was at Florida, and I’m a Miami Hurricanes fan. Now I find myself wanting him to fail so everyone can hop off his sack and get on with their normal lives.

Why wouldn't he be looking at Tebow?

we’re not talking about a first 3 round draft pick here. If you can get someone who has Heisman talent in the 4 (hopefully not) or 5 round then why not?

I’m sure Arians loves the TE potential in him.

3rd string QB

Batch isn’t young and he’d probably be more useful to us as a coach or assistant. I’d take Tebow as a 3rd string QB and bring him in every now and then for trick plays. But we all know the likelihood of that.

It would be foolish to not consider him at some point

I don’t know when you would start looking at him, certainly no earlier that round 3. If the FO thinks he can play, and they have an idea what they want to do with him, why not? Were not dealing with character issues here.

We don't need anymore publicity

We already have a QB that’s garnering all sorts of publicity. Imagine what it would be like having to listen to people talk about Ben and Tebow 24/7. And I promise you Tebow will get more attention than Ben.

Do you seriously want to hear that?

by StoneColdSteel on Mar 17, 2010 11:44 PM EDT up reply actions

So publicity is an issue?

I thought getting the best player/best fit for you’re team is the goal. If anything, Tebow’s celebrity should bring a welcome change to the percieved bad behavior we have been hearing about. Just go get the best player, that’s it.

by tannofsteel84 on Mar 18, 2010 9:43 AM EDT up reply actions

And Tebow is one of the best players?

Neither Tom Brady or Peyton Manning were “winners” in college, yet people consider Tebow to be superior.

Give me those two plus Kurt Warner, Drew Brees, and Matt Ryan any day over Tebow. Winning in college means nothing when you get to the NFL.

by StoneColdSteel on Mar 18, 2010 2:03 PM EDT up reply actions

I didn't say go get him in the 1st round.

Besides, if the FO likes him, and he’s available at the right time, then they should draft him. My problem here is that people seem to be making up there opinion based on his clean cut image. The FO will determine if he’s a good fit without all the bias that some fans seem to have. That’s it.
