Sean Weatherspoon?

And why not?  McClain will be expensive to get.  Many here have advocated for trading down in the first or up in the second to make values line up for other needs.  Tomlin met with Weatherspoon on Friday night and mentioned that he (S.W.) could fit in at MLB.  In response to that suggestion, Weatherspoon said "I am all about just being a team guy and taking care of business".  So how about it?  Would a lesser mortal like Weatherspoon be a sufficient substitute for McClain while still allowing us to obtain a nice red chipper in the second round?

He seems like a good prospect

And would fit right in at ILB for the Black and Gold. The NFL draft being the hit and miss operation it is, you can never say, but he seems almost ideal for it.

Wouldnt be bad.

But would prefer a lineman. Really like the fact though that he is very vocal. Complete opposite to Timmons in that respect.

Would be happy!

His athleticism is great!! We need a ILB with that speed to help stop Ray Rice…Many good linemen in this draft in the second round..

He is strong too

Fortunately I have gotten to see him max out in bench on tape… He is a monster… Would be able to shed blockers well too

He's the 4th guy I am targeting behind Earl Thomas, D Williams, and Iupati.

I really like him. Getting him would give us another talker like JP

I'm getting tired of saying this: Dick LeBeau’s system is so complex very few rookies can make an impact.

I think the D really fed off of that chatter. I’d like to see us with another field leader, who’s spewed comments resulted in our confidence and swagger.

No Way, No How

Weatherspoon is a self-promoting loudmouth (see Joe Porter).

One coach at the combine stated that there was no way he would ever let someone like that in his locker room. Fake, fake, fake. The Steelers have way more pressing needs than draft an inside linebacker in the 18th spot. Yea, he benches alot, he is fast. He is also tiresome.

They will take the big guard unless a prize safety or corner falls to them. It won’t be Weatherspoon, rest assured.

And yet they took Joey Porter

Casey has a big mouth too, and they resigned him. So did Lee Flowers.

Ike Taylor is always talking trash, and they love him.

I think someone is a jayhawks fan

And on the contrary, the Steelers have shown a great deal of interest in him at the combine. The point being is that you need a loudmouth on your team. We’ve been missing that ever since Peezy left us. Potsie does a good job, but I love players who get everyone huddled up before the game and start screaming. I’ve seen a lotta videos of Weatherspoon interviewed and he seems extremely respectful off the field (calls reporters sir) and a grounded individual-seems to leave it all on the field. Translation: he won’t say some of the dumb things Joey said in the days leading up to a game. Now I don’t know him personally, and I’m sure he’s made mistakes but who hasn’t? I wouldn’t be surprised or unhappy at all if we get him. I think there’s no doubt he’ll be there at 18, so if he’s better than most options left, then by all means.

BTSC Obituaries

OldManSteeler, ominously died two days before Superbowl 123 where the Ravens are set to attempt their 7th superbowl win, facing the Detroit Lions on Sunday. He was 86. His last words are believed to be "MALOR CAN SUCK IT!!!". Like friends and family, we can only guess what this could mean.

Draft

Iupiti will probably be available at 18 in round 1. Taylor Mays in round 2 if he falls, or Kyle Wilson who will probably be available and has the hands that would have secured wins in 3 of the Steelers losses when D.B.‘s couldn’t hold onto sure interceptions . Great speed and loves to hit like a truck. A year with LeBeau working on his cover skills and hands and he’s the second coming of Troy. Toby Gerhart in round 3. How many games would the Steelers have won this past year if they had a short yardage guy who could pound the ball for a couple of yards when they had 3rd and a yard and a half. Also has great hands out of the backfield, very intelligent, animal work ethic. Myron Rolle in the 4th. Tremendous upside and 50/50 chance he’s available. Most importantly, wave goodbye to Arians. He has no imagination, (all season but most glaringly in the Cleveland road loss) is predictable (again, the whole season, but unforgivably so in the loss to the Ravens when Dennis Dixon could have rolled out on almost any play in the second half), and cannot adjust to defense’s gameplans.

Taylor Mays?

Why don’t we just resign Anthony Smith too?

As a Steeler fan who also loves Mizzou

I can tell you he would be a great pickup. Awesome player and plays hard.
