Ben doesn't need to leave, but perhaps you do

"Oh drama, Ben needs to be traded/cut"

"He deserves an 8 game suspension"

Blah Blah Blah.  Have you been posting this way?  Well, it's a free country...and there are plenty of other teams to go root for.  Please go pick one and leave this one alone.  The rest of Steeler Nation will be glad to see you off.

Personally, I'm tired of it because at this point, there's nothing to blame Ben for beyond being in a bar.  The first accuser has been so thoroughly debunked that I don't think it even merits discussion.  This one was a girl who lied about her age to get into a bar, got so drunk that she doesn't know what happened and has changed her story repeatedly.  The DA - who works for the victims and isn't unbiased - couldn't find enough evidence to think he even had a remote chance of getting a conviction.  But to make it look good for the taxpayers who funded a witch hunt, he gets on TV and grandstands about how bad a person Ben is. Oh my.  The drama.

And this is what you think deserves a suspension or expulsion from the team?  Talk about convicting someone based on innuendo.  Remember when the Bus was falsely accused of something similar?  Or are most of our attention spans too short?

Look, if Ben is brought up on charges, I'm all for looking at moving him off this team (though I'll reserve judgment until I've seen the FACTS - something that people have conveniently forgotten to consider in their rush to judgment).  But at this point, there's no credible evidence to say Ben did anything wrong.  And calling for a suspension?  There’s absolutely no precedent to suspend a player who has not been charged with a crime nor tested positive for illegal substances.  You think Goodel wants to set a precedent that a mere unsubstantiated accusation is enough to warrant a suspension?  He's not that dumb.  Think of the ramifications of a decision like that when someone accuses a player of something wrong during the playoffs...

If you're a real Steeler fan, realize that there's reasons to be cautious about Ben, but don't throw your QB under the bus until there's a real reason to do so.  And you haven't been given one yet.  If you're one of the drama queens on this board calling for Ben to be drawn and quartered, I'd prefer that you either rally around your team or go find another one.  I'd expect this reaction from the jailbird Bungals and some other less-than-savory types, but not from Steeler Nation.  Shame on you.
