2010 NFL Mock draft : Updated 04/22(includes trades)

This is my final 2010 mock draft, and it includes trades. I'm sure make may Steelers fans very happy. I hope you all enjoy the draft as much as I will.

1. St. Louis Rams: Sam Bradford QB, Oklahoma
This pick is a 99.9% lock. The Rams have already stated that they are not concerned with signing any prospect before the draft, so negotiations won’t become a factor. The only thing that could change this pick is if some team is so enamored with Bradford that they are willing to pull a Mike Ditka and trade their entire draft for this pick, which is never going to happen.

2. Detroit Lions: Ndamukong Suh DT, Nebraska
Right now I see this pick 75% favoring Suh, with the other 25% going for Russell Okung. There has been talk that the Redskins may be willing to take less than a 1st rounder for Albert Haynesworth, which would reunite him with his former D-coordinator in Tennessee in Jim Schwartz, thus negating the need to draft Suh. Personally even if they don’t trade for Haynesworth it would be smart for them to draft Okung because current LT Jeff Backus is awful at pass protection.

3. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Gerald McCoy DT, Oklahoma
Tampa Bay really wants Suh, but McCoy would actually be a better fit for them. This pick is going to some down to whichever is available, and if both are I feel they will go with Suh.

4. Washington Redskins: Russell Okung OT, Oklahoma State
There are rumors that even with the trade for McNabb that the Redskins are still thinking about taking Bradford if he’s available. I’m not sure that I buy into that. This pick will come down to Okung or Trent Williams, whichever Shanahan thinks is a better fit for his zone-blocking scheme.

5. *Trade* Cleveland Browns (via Kansas City Chiefs): Eric Berry S, Tennessee
Cleveland wants Eric Berry bad. With so many picks in the draft they can afford to trade up two spots to secure his selection. Chiefs GM Scott Pioli does not like taking Safeties in the top 5 and can still get a quality LT prospect by trading back, or take another player with better positional value.

6. Seattle Seahawks: Bryan Bulaga, OT, Iowa
Seattle needs a top shelf LT. They will consider Jimmy Clausen with him still on the board but will get better value with Bulaga. A lot has been made about his 33in arms, and as such he’s drawn comparisons to fellow Iowa alum and 1st round bust Robert Gallery. Quality NFL scouts don’t care about that kind of stuff, only so-called draft Guru’s on ESPN. No one ever mentions the fact that former top Tackle picks, and quality pro-bowlers, Jake Long and Joe Thomas both have arm lengths that measure less than 33 inches.

7. Kansas City Chiefs (via Cleveland Browns): Trent Williams OT, Oklahoma
Pioli trades back, still gets an elite LT prospect, and gets a couple more draft picks to play with in the process.

8. Oakland Raiders: Jason Pierre-Paul DE/OLB, USF
When push comes to shove Al Davis is going to go with the biggest athletic freak in the draft. While watching video of JPP doing 19 back-flips in a row I’m sure Davis was drooling and doing God knows what else. Of course Bruce Campbell and Taylor Mays will definitely come into play.

9. Buffalo Bills: Dan Williams NT, Tennessee
Clausen will be an option, but I don’t think he’s right for new Head Coach Chan Gailey’s offense. With the top 3 OT’s off of the board they will take Williams to be the centerpiece of the teams new 3-4 defense.

10. Jacksonville Jaguars: Derrick Morgan DE, Georgia Tech
GM Gene Smith is a big proponent of taking the BPA. That could be Clausen, Earl Thomas, or Joe Haden. Jacksonville is looking to save money so they could trade out, but they are also looking for players that can make an immediate impact that translates into wins to generate revenue.

11. *Trade* Philadelphia Eagles (via Denver Broncos(via Chicago Bears): Earl Thomas S, Texas
Philly loves Earl Thomas and has a lot of picks to make a move like this.

12. *Trade* Pittsburgh Steelers (via Miami Dolphins): Joe Haden CB, Florida
Pittsburgh has never been afraid to move up for a player they really like, and have several extra picks to do this with. Miami wants a pass-rusher like Sergio Kindle or Jerry Hughes but this is too high to take either of them.

13. San Francisco 49ers: Jimmy Clausen QB, Notre Dame
With the former GM now gone there is no one in the FO that has any ties or loyalty to former 1st round pick Alex Smith who is in the final year of his contract. S.F. can’t afford to wait and take him with their second pick because Seattle would also give him a lot of consideration as well.

14. Seattle Seahawks (via Denver Broncos): C.J. Spiller RB, Clemson
They missed out on Clausen but have Bulaga to protect Hasselbeck. This pick will come down to Spiller or Dez Bryant. Coach Carroll loves big receivers but they recently signed Reggie Williams and Mike Williams, and could target someone like Damian Williams in the 2nr round.

15. New York Giants: Rolando McClain ILB, Alabama
They need someone to replace Antonio Piece, and with Morgan off of the board they take McClain. He’s not an ideal fit for DC Fewell’s defense but he’s an undeniable talent.

16. Tennessee Titans: Everson Griffen DE, USC
This pick will be Griffen or Carlos Dunlap. Both of them have the measureables the team loves but Dunlap’s character concerns will take him out of the running. Personally I think they would be better off taking Brandon Graham.

17. San Francisco 49ers(via Carolina Panthers): Taylor Mays S, USC
They could consider Anthony Davis to fill the hole at RT, but Mays is a better prospect to replace Michael Lewis.

18. Miami Dolphins (via Pittsburgh Steelers): Sergio Kindle DE/OLB, Texas
Miami gets the rush-linebacker they covet with overreaching.

19. Atlanta Falcons: Brandon Graham DE, Michigan
This pick will be Graham or Sean Weatherspoon. Graham represents greater positional value which GM Dimitroff is big on.

20. Houston Texans: Kyle Wilson CB, Boise State
If the Texans want to compete with the colts they need to upgrade the secondary.

21. Cincinnati Bengals: Dez Bryant WR, Oklahoma State
The Bengals will take Bryant or Jermaine Gresham here. The Bengals have shown they have no problems taking someone with character concerns.

22. New England Patriots: Jermaine Gresham TE, Oklahoma
This will be Gresham or Jared Odrick. They signed Damoine Lewis which means they can wait and take a second tier DE.

23. Green Bay Packers: Bruce Campbell OT, Maryland
The Packers will take an OT, either Campbell or Charles Brown, or Jerry Hughes.

24. *Trade* New York Jets (from Denver Broncos via Philadelphia Eagles): Jared Odrick DT/DE, PSU
The Jets have been aggressive all offseason and fill their biggest need with Odrick, whom they steal right from under the Ravens.

25. Baltimore Ravens: Linval Joseph DT, East Carolina
The Ravens will probably trade back with Odrick off the board, but getting Joseph to anchor the front isn’t much of a reach here.

26. Arizona Cardinals: Anthony Davis OT, Rutgers
They need a LT and OLB’s. If Davis is gone this will be Weatherspoon or Jerry Hughes.

27. Dallas Cowboys: Mike Iupati OG, Idaho
The Dallas FO loves him.

28. San Diego Chargers: Ryan Matthews RB, Fresno State
They need a long-term solution to RB.

29. Denver Broncos (via New York Jets): Maurkice Pouncey OG/OC, Florida
Pouncey easily fills Denver’s biggest need at OC.

30. Minnesota Vikings: Sean Weatherspoon OLB, Missouri
Current WLB Ben Leber is 30 years old and will be a FA in 2011. This doesn’t fill an immediate need but is a much greater value than taking Devin McCourty.

31. Indianapolis Colts: Charles Brown OT, USC
The Colts get the athletic LT they really need.

32. New Orleans Saints: Carlos Dunlap DE, Florida
He may be a gamble but his talent would help keep the saints a Championship caliber team.
