Friday Morning Hijackable Thread

Due to popular demand and the need for somewhere to post so we don't ruin the serious (and more valuable) threads, I am tossing out another thread for people to hijack. If you are in doubt about what to do here, wait awhile and watch. Then jump in.

I thought I would start by talking about my local team, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, which actually has many NFL connections. The first name that comes to mind was Bud Grant and some other prominent names include Tom Clements (now a QB coach in the NFL) and Dieter (Ralph) Brock. The person I decided upon is Jack Jacobs who had a decent NFL career before coming north to Winnipeg, bringing with him, the forward pass. I have included the wikipedia link for those who wish to know more about him.

Even though we are looking forward to training camp and the preseason, some of us are still watching the NHL playoffs so I thought I would throw in a video clip from an almost forgettable game between the Winnipeg Jets and the Pittsburgh Penguins. Promising young center, Paul Gardner, caught diminutive winger Doug Smail across the jaw with a cross check, breaking his stick across Smail's already broken jaw. Winnipeg tough guy, Jimmy Mann, showed himself to be a man of action rather than words, breaking Gardner's jaw with a single punch. Gardner's career nose dived after this, never to fully recover.

Two pieces of music for those music lovers out there.

First some classic BTO with a guest star intro.

The second is a more obscure band, out of Montreal , called Patrick Watson. The song is called Big Bird in a Small Cage. It may be a bit more challenging.

I am hoping the weather where you are is better than here. Thunder storms and heavy rains means lots of mosquitoes in a few weeks (days?). I feel it is fitting to close with a link to our provincial bird (the real one, not the official one). This is, as far as I can tell, life sized.
