Chicken Little

Wanted to start a new post because the other ones have gotten lengthy on this subject.  But I was pretty bummed out that Sweed got injured.  There are some with the sentiment that we should move on but I just disagree.  You don't want to re-draft the same position.  Look at what happened to the Detroit Lions in the early 2000s.  When you have to re-draft the same position because of a bust, it hurts the team.  It prohibits you from drafting other areas of the team that need to get younger and better.  I want Sweed to make it because I don't want to have to worry about the WR spot.  I want the Steelers to be able to draft value and get the best players available.  That will allow them to be a better and deeper team as a whole.  Thats just how I feel personally.  I know Sweed has dropped a lot of passes so what.  It doesn't mean he will always drop passes.  It is worth the wait to see if this guy can put it together.  I know the drops have left a bad taste in people's mouth but look how long it took James Harrison to catch on in the NFL.  It was well worth the wait for him.  I don't know how Sweed will turn out, but it doesn't hurt us to see if he can make the team and contribute this year.  I want Sweed to succeed in the black and gold.  So when he got hurt and the sky began to fall I was really bummed out.  But sky is a shade gray lighter today.

According to emedicinehealth.com, a person with such an injury will miss four to six months of activity, however, "With motivation and rigorous physical therapy, elite athletes may return to athletics as early as 3 months after injury."

So he could still make it back by august and the preseason.  It doesn't hurt you to keep a roster spot open for sweed until you have to decide the final 53.  No IR for this guy, this is his last chance.  If he doesn't pan out this year, its time to move on suck it up and draft one of the stud WRs coming out next year.  Push him to come back in 3 months and fight for a roster spot, competition is good.  I'm still on team S-Weed.

Apparently the injury wasn't as serious as some thought.
