SteelCityInsider is reporting that the Steelers announced the signing s today of 3rd-round pick Emmanuel Sanders, 5C pick Stevenson Sylvester, 6A pick Jonathan Dwyer, and 6B pick Antonio Brown.
The site is also reporting that seven players were cut. They are:
WR Jason Chery,
K Piotr Czech,
LB Derrick Doggett,
NT Cordarrow Thompson,
C Bradley Vierling, and
CB Trae Williams.
Nice to see we're locking up our picks.
Some concerns: Will there be any competition in the kicking game? I can't remember if there are any other K or P on the roster other than Reed and RoboPunter. I don't see how this squares with Tomlin's core belief that competition brings out the best in athletes. I'm suprised we cut Doggett without letting him have a chance to actually suit up and hit someone. Perhaps all the LBs in the draft doomed him, but I thought he was specifically brought in to play on ST. Finally, the Thompson cut is also a surprise, but I guess they like Paxson and McClendon.
