Bungles have no class - Hard Knocks Replay
I have been watching the Hard Knocks re-runs the past week. It was really interesting watching how the different organizations handle issues. As much as I hate to say it, the Cowboys were somewhat classy. Jerry Jones met with most of the players being cut. Raven's coach Brian Billiick even met one on one with each of the players.
On the other end was the Bengals. They notified players that they were cut by telephone or meetings with low level personnel. One guy who was being cut, walked by Marvin Lewis, un aware that he was being cut. Marvin did not have the spine to tell him. Mike Brown did not even have the class to meet with the players.
I am sure that the Steelers show more class when they release a player, rookie or vet.

When you are consistently a franchise that finishes with a losing record, would you have the balls to tell those players that they are not good enough to even make THAT team?
"However, the true greatness of the Ravens’ line lies in their malevolence, led by right end Haloti Ngata. Simply put, Ngata can’t be blocked by mere mortals. He is not a product of the human species. He is really a creation of a building contractor, made of cinderblocks and some type of flesh-like covering. Throw in Kelly Gregg at nose tackle and behemoth rookie Terrence Cody and you have something truly frightening."
How 'bout getting cut by the Lions
and have them go 0-16. You get picked up by the Steelers and go to the Super Bowl. O’h that actually happenned.
I should have included the Lions.

Just because a bad team cuts you doesn’t mean that they don’t have class. Players have to be cut in the NFL, just part of the system, but when you handle it like Cinci did in that show then I agree that it was a little classless.

It was McHugh
He got cut by Matt Milan and starts at FB in the Super Bowl. I think that the Lions are getting better, but for decades they had no class except for Barry Sanders who was a special player in a pile of sh*t..

But do you really think Tomlin and Rooney would meet with the 4th FB on the depth chart getting cut?

why all the new york hate?
how are the yanks classless? or the rangers or Giants? how about the owner who moved his team from Clevedump to Baltimore? or a team who consistently has some of the lowest payroll in baseball and fielding garbage teams on the field? (Royals) NY for a choice is a bit of hate. r u from Boston?

I hate NY teams, OK?
I have since I was a kid and went to camp with a bunch of kids from NY. I have always felt that Steinbrenner was a pompous ass. His son is running a better team now, from what I understand.
I am not from Boston. I am from Pittsburgh. Should have included the Pats.
I could have listed another 2 dozen teams, I tried to list the obvious teams. If I left out your choice add it as a comment.

so much hate... drinking that hatorade man too much
Have you been to NY? There is much more than Manhattan.
You were talking about classless organizations though. What are examples of classless acts these NY teams are doing.
I would think the Mets(my favorite team by the way) would be the one with the least class considering the recent debacle of Minay last year and Bernazard ripping his shirt and wanting to fight a player. Also firing Randolph at 3am.
And the 80’s i’m not going to go there with their lack of class.
Now classless team of all time would be LA Clippers

OK - NY has too many people
That is why I do not have any desire to go there.
Lets look at the teams.
Mets – You said they lack class
Yankees – $$$$$$ solves all problems
Rangers – incompetent management
Islanders – No management
Devils – Good team, just do not like playing them, Best Goalie in hockey
Knicks – Makes the Isladers and Rangers look good
Nets – New management, the jury is still out, but past management sucked
Giants – Class organization
Jets – limited class – letting Faneca go as late as they did. Hiring Mangini to start with.
Ok. Do you agree with my assessment of the NY teams

I Did the Met evaluation
yankees- so what if money solves the problem. they are doing a great job in putting a great product on the field. I want to see the Royals or Pirates spend an extra 15 million for better players. maybe they will be over .500
Rangers- I M how? one of the original franchises in the NHL. great rabid fanbase. very embracing of its players
Islanders- unfortunately play in a dump (NassauCountyColisseum)
management wants to move the team because they know their fanbase has dwindled in the NY area. they would like to stay in NY if given a new arena. amazing this team won 4 cups in a row.
Devils- a very good team with multiple cups. this organization shows class.
Knicks- have class. they are getting back to their winning ways. maybe in a couple of years.
Nets- past season was terrible. so what do they do? have a fan draw up a play for you. new owner seems like a rogue character.
Giants- up there with the Steelers in the class heavens
Jets- oh man an ambitious owner and front office. so what if they got rid of Faneca,
I wouldn’t say nY teams are classless. they have unforgivin fans who want to win all the time.

Lets take a look at the Rangers and Jets and Knicks
Rangers have great fans, no doubt about it. Most if not all of their personnel moves in the last ~10 years have sucked.
Jets -management tells Reves that he is under paid and then not negotiate with him. I know the CBA (30% rule) restricts what they can do. If they knew that they were going to release Faneca, why hold on to him so long and limit his options. When we let Joey Porter go, we let him go early so that he had the best opportunity. Did the same with Foote last year. Partially because of how he was treated, he came back home.
Knicks – Are you going to defend the class of Isiah Thomas? Ok they are a historic franchise, but so are the Pirates and they suck and have no class. The owner just pockets the revenue sharing money and won’t put a major league roster on the field.
I agree that NY fas have no patience.

Colts aren't negotiating with Manning either
I doubt either is going to hit the free agent market. My guess there will be some type of franchise tag in the new CBA. But that they will not be able to tag the players who were skrewed with the RFA rule this year.
I know the Steelers do not usually negotiate during the season. But they probably will have talks with him during training camp that if the CBA looks like “A” then we will offer “X” if “B” then the offer is “Y” and so forth.
The FO is not dumb. Nor are the Colts FO.

Oh, fleeting class
I was surprised not to see the 49ers listed as a choice. Maybe they’re just getting better since Singletary, but I seem to remember nary a year passed after Eddie DeBartolo’s departure when San Fran didn’t show their lack of class to players, this after a couple of decades of being among the classiest organizations.

Saw a good bit of the hard knocks myself.
It’s interesting to see these old episodes and you can then google the players and find out what became of them.
I liked the feel of the Herm Edwards one.
On the Bengals one it’s kind of funny to see the 1000 mile stare on Laverneus Cole’s face while Lewis is screaming at the team. That guy with the giant butt making the cuts by phone and particularly busting into players rooms in the night to tell guys they’ve been waived is definitely not classy.
In the Cowboys one, it’s kind of unsettling how involved Jerry Jones is. I think the team would work better if the owner / manager stayed off the field more. Seems like that guy was involved in everything.
