DeShea Townsend Looking For A 2010 Gig
We're less than three weeks away from the kick off of training camps around the National Football League and one two-time Super Bowl winning cornerback is still on the market without a home. That'd be Deshea Townsend, the longtime veteran defensive back who was not re-signed by the Pittsburgh Steelers after his contract expired at the end of last season. Townsend, who deserves a more fitting tribute for his long and productive career in Pittsburgh, is set to turn 35 years old one day after the start of the '10 season for 30 of the 32 NFL teams. His play diminished considerably last year, but I do think he can still be a complimentary asset in some coordinator's defensive backfield. Dick LeBeau has praised Townsend as one of the most savvy and intelligent players he's ever coachced. That's saying something. Good luck Deshea wherever you land!

Good Luck Deshea
long career coming to an end. Good luck with Pay it Forward Foundation. Whatever team picks him up will have a smart CB who can start and produce big plays

Franco made that play because he never quit on the play. He kept running, he kept hustling. Good things happen to people who hustle."
crying shame
could have been kept for depth and veteran leadership. He’s saved many a game for us. Wasn’t he the first corner to get an interception last year? In one of the last games?
I always liked DT...
…even before his game-winning pick-six against the Cowboys (and certainly after!)
Whichever team gives him a roster spot will get a great locker-room presence and a hugely savvy corner for their nickel/dime packages.

One of my favorite Steelers memories
Is the TD against the Cowboys.
Moving on is something that has to be done with older players, but Townsend did some great things as a Steeler.

Thanks for the memories
Please do not take a job just for the sake of prolonging a solid career. You were born a Steeler, retire as a Steeler.
Thanks for 2 Super Bowls and many great plays.
