Ok I copped out and watched Rat Race again. I didn't get to see Predators or Inception. So please don't do any spoilers on either of those. My Monday morning cop out review will be on the movie I mentioned in the opening sentence.
Rat Race is one of those movies. You know the movie that you see no trailers for, but you see it in Blockbuster. You see the cast and are intrigued. I notice that it is inspired by the 1960's movie "It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World". I also see the cast; Cuba Gooding Junior, John Lovitz, Rowan Atkinson but almost blew it with Whoopi Godlberg. Anyhow I figured I would check it out and maybe get a laugh out of it.
The movie starts out a little slow. It sets up the storyline by following the would-be contestants in a Vegas Casino. All of the random people (so it seems) get gold coins telling them to meet up in a room in the hotel. When they get there a they find that if they sign a release they will be participants in a race to New Mexico. The winner gets a large sum of money.
This movie is very well put together. It is not overly hilarious, but every contestant and team of contestants in this movie have funny parts throughout. After the race starts there is not a scene that I can remember that doesn't have something in it that's really funny. If you are looking for a can't-miss comedy, this would be a good choice. Even if you don't like the actors in this movie, you'll enjoy it.
I don't like Whoopi Goldberg, but her scenes were funny. Some people don't like Rowan Atkinson. My sister doesn't like him but thought some of his scenes were hilarious. She said mostly because of some really good story writing involved.
Ok I copped out, but I tell you that this movie is a must see. Not one that you should break your neck to see, but one that you should make sure you watch. It's one you may watch more than once. If you like Smash Mouth you'll want to watch it until the end for a special treat as well.
Thumbs up from me. Not sure how many stars. It's like a solid interior offensive lineman, you really don't want to grade them because you feel like you may grade them too high, but then again that's a dang solid player.
No bullets in this one. You're turn to post your review though.
