umpire in the backfield: very minor observation

so i was re-watching the first game tonight.  i know the NFL moved the umpire to the offensive backfield, but one thing i noticed, inside the two minute warning, they move the umpire back to the old spot behind the defense.  i saw this in both halves.  i'm guessing this is in response to coaches worrying about the umpire getting the ball to the line of scrimmage on time...

also, if the umpire was in the backfield in super bowl XIII, does franco score on this play?
