My thoughts on Steelers-Falcons

My own perscription for Week 1. After all, I am a doctor... Maybe...

I'm a first time poster at BTSC, but I'm a sometime commenter and frequent reader. I thought now was as good a time as any to jump right in to the conversation and hope that I'm not doing too bad a job at this. For week one, I'd expect to see a steady dose of the run and hopefully dink and dunk passes on offense with an occassional surprise play mixed in. With Dennis Dixon at QB, this is exactly what I'd call for if I was an offensive coordinator in the NFL. I saw a blogger elsewhere comment on how the Steelers would lose by playing "not to lose". I believe this blogger totally missed the strategy that will need to go into this game.

The Atlanta offense is powerful. Sure, it's not freakish like the Colts... But it's got some firepower. It's kinda like Britain in WWII. Not quite the arsenal of democracy but certainly strong enough to win some battles. Their defense however doesn't do anything for me. If we can keep their offense off the field and keep our old dawgs on defense fresh, we've got a damn good shot of putting the Falcons in a vicegrip.

This game can be won with ball control offense. It's that simple, so long as our defense is in top form, that's how we'll win. Maybe it's a little simplistic, but for week one, we'll be fresh and that's the best time to play this strategy.

That's the doctor's perscription for a week one victory. Take two and call me next week.
