i have this fear and trepidation that since this is an award voted on by writers (AP), the dumb writers will probably want to pick scrappy wes welker.
a few writers might be gutsy enough to not vote for a patriot in troy polamalu, and at this rate, that would be justified.
however, sadly, i wonder if aaron smith will get even a single vote. maybe some voters will see troy's return as the bigger contribution to the team. if you ask a steelers fan, though, some of the improved LB player is God-given talent (juan, deebo, wolverine), but a significant portion has to go to aaron smith.
i hardly gets more anonymous than "3-4 DE", but so far, aaron smith would get my vote for nfl comeback player of the year. i hope he gets a lot of recognition this year.
here we go!
