What to think of Dennis Dixon

Here are some of my thoughts on Dennis Dixon's performance in the first game and a quarter as a starter (not including last year's game vs. the Ravens).

1. He can have a role in the NFL as a QB.

Whether that is with the Steelers as their 3rd string QB or being the direct backup to Peyton Manning or Tony Romo in case they get hurt or even starting for the Bills, Raiders, or Browns, he has a role in the NFL. I think he moves on after this season unless the Steelers decide to sign him as the 2nd string QB and ditch Byron Leftwitch. If not I could see him with the Bills or Browns or Raiders competing for a starting job next year.

2. He has improved his passing skills dramatically since he entered the NFL

When he entered the NFL he was a run first QB with almost no ability to pass the ball. Now, he is a balanced QB who can make some decent throws. He still has the ability to run, as he showed in the game vs. the Titans but he can now make some decent passes.

3. He will never be a great starter in the NFL

or possibly even a good one but he could be a decent starter and win you some games but he will also lose you some games as well.
