Cuts of interest around the league (i.e. A. Q. Shipley)

The Washington Redskins hit the cut-the-ex-Steeler trifecta on cut day, releasing FFWP (formerly fast Willie Parker),  FFLF (former fan least favorite Tyrone Carter) and OFFLF (other former fan least favorite, Carey Davis).

Willie Parker was a real pro who illustrates the brutally short life of an NFL running back.  The Redskins kept Clinton Portis, Larry Johnson, 2nd year undrafted Villanova RB Darrel Young and undrafted LSU free agent Keiland Williams.

The Redskins also cut former WVU lineman, Selvish Capers.  Rumor has it that they tried to acquire Kendrick Clancy and Tyler Palko, so that they could cut them too.

And I take this opportunity to ask how, with all the Native-American related name changes of the past 20 years, how do the Redskins of all possible names, abide?  Does Daniel Snyder have Sri Lankan factories belching genetically engineered evil mojo that causes us not to notice?

The Eagles cut A. Q. Shipley.  Not looking good at this point for the former Rimington Award winner.

Kendrick Clancy was released by the Saints.  Good for Clancy to have made it 10 years in the NFL, quite an accomplishment.

The Chiefs cut former Panther, Tyler Palko.

The Bills cut former Steeler, Donovan Woods.

Former Pitt-tormentor Tony Pike made the Panthers. To keep Pike, the Panthers cut Hunter Cantwell.  Cantwell was operating under the handicap of the worst name in the NFL.

Fan favorite and noted smart-guy Myron Rolle was cut by the Seahawks

The Dolphins cut 2009 2nd round choice Pat White, out of WVU.

Bobby Carpenter couldn't make the Rams and neither could Danario Alexander.

The Detroit Lions got rid of all of their 2009 defensive backs, except for Louis Delmas.

The Bears cut Antonio Brown's college QB, Dan LeFevour.   LeFevour was also a 6th round choice.  The Bears also cut 2009 draft darling, Jarron Gilbert.

The Raven's cut Troy Smith.  The Bengals cut Matt Jones and 2nd year TE Chase Coffman.  The Browns cut 2010 draftees Larry Asante and Clifton Geathers

Thanks to SteelerMessican for prompting the following:  The Colts start their quest for the Super Bowl with Deshea Townsend on their roster.  Townsend will be 35 on Wednesday.   Townsend covering Ward in the AFC title game? Could happen.  Surprisingly resilient Anthony Smith is the starting strong safety of the Jacksonville Jaguars, according to the team depth chart.  He is still only 26.
