I was perusing Twitter just a little bit ago and this popped up on my home page:
Reports are unconfirmed but I think most people were planning on Dixon starting More after the jump...So this is my first full length post, please bear with me.
Basically the choice for starting QB for the first 4 games is an horrendously difficult one to make. Do you go with the seasoned veteran that everyone loves but is afraid will break with the first real hit or do you go with the young up-and-comer who can scramble like nobody's business but doesn't always make the best choices?
Charlie has proven to be a good back up and a smart player who has stayed with the team even after he seems to have been relegated to the sidelines for eternity. He has the brains that a lot of back ups (and many starting) QBs lack but he's getting older (35) and seems more and more fragile with each passing year.
Dennis is the new(ish) guy on the block but he's shown that he is very versatile, but people still wonder about his poise as a passer. We all know he can scramble and extend the play (a la Big Stupid) but his choices can be questionable. He's still young and can wait another year, so why not sit him and play Charlie?
With BR's 4 game suspension taken into consideration, I would most likely pick Charlie for his experience but add in Dennis packages for some variety/ a change of pace. I don't think we can rely on either of them totally purely because neither Charlie nor Dennis are complete QBs; they each have a downfall and as was suggested a few days ago: Charlie's brain+Dennis's body = amzing! Any way you go there are going to be downsides because these are our back ups, but the biggest thing I want to know is:
What would you do if you were Mike Tomlin?
I know this post isn't very long or in depth but I hope it's okay for my first one!
