Is the Steelers Glass Half Empty or Half Full After Jacksonville?
The Steelers lackluster win over the Jaguars seems to have left much of Steelers Nation in a funk.
As well it should - Sunday's game never should have done to the wire.
Which begs the question, is the Steelers glass half-full or half empty. Click above for one opnion.

half empty
I am not panicking, but I trust what I see with my eyes.
The worst part, is that I feel like this team is not well coached. I think Arians is bad, but a lot falls on Tomlin. Almost EVERY team in the NFL pulls the RB after a 65 yard run. Not us. Mendy gets to stay in. Redmen is a MUCH better short yardage back, but we stay with Mendy. Deep passes with blustery winds? OK. QB is off on his long passes? OK. Keep calling them.
Short passing game results in best points in years a week ago, so lets abandon it.
I am drifting off the Tomlin bandwagon.
Yeah, I noticed that Mendenhall stayed in
…But that was one of those dammed if you do type moves — if they score, no one make a big deal.

I told my wife before the next play he should have been pulled
he was struggling to catch his breath! Bad move by Tomlin, put in fresh legs/lungs…

They should have called a time out, either way.....
Mendy was gassed. The offensive line was gassed. And while some of the JAX players were gassed, their goal line specialists were fresh. By the time Ben got to the LOS, the snap count had to be rushed. There was no opportunity for an audible. It was a mess.
It shoulda been Redman in there, simply to let ’shard get some oxygen.
BTW, the NFL should change the rules for the play clock after long gains. It takes too long for BOTH teams to get downfield, and even if the O hurries, the D often doesn’t, and you can’t call a play in the huddle with the defense sauntering by within earshot. They should allow 15 seconds to run off the play clock, then stop it, and reset it to 25 seconds when the last defender crosses the new line of scrimmage.
It is simply wrong for a team that has just run a long gainer to be put at a disadvantage because players from both teams have to pick themselves off the ground and jog anywhere from 40 to 90 yards before the next play can begin.
I would kill everyone in this room for a drop of sweet beer.

agree with you
Tomlin is like a high school coach in there at times. Every week we loose 2-3 timeouts A GAME because we arent prepared, dont have a play, etc. There is no reason for this. Also, every week there has been calls where he should of thrown the flag and he refuses to do it. Texans game; The play before the foster ran for a TD to beat us he should of thrown the flag. It might of been a play or two, but if you remember it was like a third and 10 or so and the tight end for the texans caught the pass over the middle and the ball hit the ground. Tomlin never threw the flag. You could clearly see the ball hit the ground. That gets turned around and we get the ball back and Foster never had that run. And honestly there was no call for that Mendenhall play in Jacksonville, this should be automatic that Redman or Dwyer should of been running to the next play after the long run from Tippy toes.
I will just say I have half a glass
Plenty went wrong that should have been right yesterday, but BA definitely called a bad game. Run on 1st, run on 2nd, open backfield for 3rd & 2? BA was hardly stellar, and it hurt us.

I agree...
The offensive breakdown began in the first half, when Ben/Bruce went back to the 7 Step Drops.

I think I am finally on the fire BA bandwagon after yesterday...

I know
I get tired of complaining about empty on third and 2. Even the colts run it in from the two with three or four wide. Keep them guessing. Arians is really bad. And redman should be in on every goal line carry doesn’t take an NFL scout to see he is stronger short yardage
am I the only person that prefers empty sets on short yardage situations
in order to spread the D out? It just seems to me that that’s the best option
I’ve seen them this year and last year go for runs on short yard situations, i can’t remember too many success stories in that department
maybe not "prefers"
but at least “don’t mind”
I am cool with it Frank
If they are looking for short yardage conversion – 3rd&2 waiting for a 30yard deep route to uncover? Why not just punt on 3rd?
also, you can spread the D and still leave one back in – and at least that back can be a chip block and safety valve – empty backfield is all or nothing.

hate the empty.
On third and two, go ahead and put 3 wide. But I say keep a RB in , maybe even QB under center. (Peyton Manning does this all the time in red zone) Then they have to respect the run. I am just an armchair “expert” but it seems to me with a poor offensive line, we should not tip what we are going to do. Don’t try to tip run or pass. They have to keep at least one LB in the box so maybe the run works. Or one less guy dropping to coverage. Or slows down the defensive end pass rush. Or how about the the RB runs a dart route out of the backfield vs a linebacker that works most of the time FOR EVERY NFL TEAM BUT US.
Sorry. I watch a lot of games and our offense is so vanilla it kills me.
With our protection, I hate every time we go empty. I can’t wait until Arians retires.
also very good points.
Lol retires? you don’t think he’ll ever get fired?
That sure is true about the receiving running back, we do seem to be the only team that can’t pull that off.
BA will never get fired
In my opinion. Maybe it is because you don’t fire a guy after winning the super bowl, and hard to replace him after losing the super bowl because all the good assistants are already signed. I honestly don’t think Tomlin sees the problems or he would step in and change it. Because of this, my opinion of Tomlin is fading. He needs to step up and fix these issues, but he doesn’t.
Plus, ARians was supposedly going to retire this offseason but Ben talked him out of it.
this is a simple question that gets too much attention
If the Steelers had a full glass, and they drank/spilled half, it would be half empty
If the Steelers had an empty glass, and they filled it up half way, it would be half full
great analysis
if you only knew something about football
I agree with scottd7...
…Tomlin’s post game comments are becoming repetitive. Stop telling us how mediocrity and reversion to failed game plans will “motivate” the team to do better. How about asserting your HC authority and require the BB/BA mutual support group to focus game plans that work, like the one used against Titans. I thought the HC dictated what the team did, not the QB or OC.
Maybe if he does this, he’ll have more time on the sidelines to think through true HC type thoughts like, replace a winded running back, or manage the clock better.
Tomlinisms are fun, but he risks becoming a caricature. One ill spoken “unleash hell” comment is enough.

Is the glass half full or half empty?
Yes it is.
And you can’t get enough of that wonderful Duff.
