Ben Roll out of Pocket more often

The following was a comment from the main yahoo! sports page news article on Ben's injury.  (I know, never good to read those.),  But, this one was actually in my opinion an intriguing idea.

"Ok Steelers heres what I don't get. You know your Offensive line is beat to hell and you got back-up players trying to fill in for veterans who on a good day when their healthy got all they can handle when Ben holds the ball the way he does. Knowing this why wouldn't you design the offense around Ben rolling out of the pocket instead of getting killed standing in the pocket with ZERO PROTECTION!!! I've seen Ben do some of his best work after he has been flushed out of the pocket. I mean geez its not rocket science here!" - Kenneth

Now, with the state of our current O-line, would it make sense to just get Ben running left or right from the start, or at least do this every once in awhile?  Would designed bootlegs help the O-line for blocking schemes since, in my naive eyes for offensive line play at least, it would seem that the blocking would be similar to a running play, only it is our qb doing the running?  I could be completely wrong, but would like to get more experienced, football educated opinions.
