I am really annoyed by the decision by MNF to can the legendary Hank Williams JR. for expressing his opinion and enjoying a right that every American is supposed to have. That right is one guaranteed in our Consititution and is the freedom of speech.
I have been a fan of Hank Jr. for a long time. He is a red-blooded American and a good old country boy. For MNF to get rid of him like they did, well it pisses me off! I sure as hell don't have to tune into their programming if they are gonna kick a true american icon to the curb like that. A person should be able to speak their mind in this country, too often and in too many arenas we are becoming a bunch of politically correct cowards.
Amazing to me that the television personalities on ESPN always complain that everything the players in the NFL say is scripted and they never get any real answsers to the questions they ask. But then someone speaks his mind and gives his opinion, he gets fired by the same network. Hmm, wonder why players don't open up and give a real opinion about a question asked of them?
Mendy would be another example of someone who gave his opinion on a subject and was slammed by the media. Bunch of hypocrites if you asked me, truth be told a considerable portion of this nation shares Mendy ideas. But few have the courage to voice them, because of the fear of repercussions. Freedom on speech is not a right we Americans should treat lightly! The only thing I wished Hank had done differently was tell ESPN to kiss his good old boy country ASS!
I am considering boycotting all MNF games until the Steelers play on December 19th. Might not even watch that game and boycott them the rest of the year. Not that it would make any difference to MNF since I am don't have a Neilsen box sitting on my tv, but sometimes a person has just gotta do what they feel is right.
What does the Nation think?
