Cincinnati doesn't look like they're done yet this season. A short Mike Nugent chip shot knots the score a 3 in a big AFC game against Houston.
It didn't take Baltimore long to get up on Indianapolis. An opening drive touchdown pass from Joe Flacco to Torrey Smith has the Ravens up 7-0, and they're driving now for more.
Stop in and update the community on the game you're watching, and share your thoughts on all the happenings in the NFL today.

I was really hoping
for the Ravens to blow it today, looks like it’s not going to happen. Oh well.

I've got a bet the Ravens margin of victory will be higher than the Lions

It's physically impossible to play worse than the Vikings right now
Forced fumble after RT Phil Loadholt forgot to block Cliff Avril, two big pass plays put Cedric Griffith on the bench in favor of Benny Freakin Sapp, and the Lions are looking like they want to run up the score.

yeah..you’re right. I was just trying to stay positive for you. I just switched it back to the game. Man Ponder is not good. I know he’s a rookie, but the mistakes he makes…it’s one of those “you either got it or you don’t” type of things

He's played much better than he is now
He’s taken a step back, but he’s gonna be pretty good.
He has absolutely ZERO protection, and without Peterson in there, teams are just pinning their ears back and going after him. No one’s gonna succeed with what he has to work with.

If I owned a team, Jim Schwartz would not be associated with it in any way, shape or form. He’s all pissed off for that drive, and I don’t blame him. This is the kind of team he’s built. They’re arrogant, undisciplined and they are way to satisfied with every play they make.
That touchdown drive was absolutely pathetic. Not sure if I have less respect for a head coach than I do Schwartz. His teams always do stuff like this.
Hasselbeck's hurt
Locker warms up on the sidelines.
Need a Titans loss for our possible playoff clinching today
I think Locker is a stud. This is his chance to show it. Not too worried about clinching, we got games against St Louis and Cleveland. Not that those are locks, but they are “should wins”

Not sure I'm excited about playing at Cleveland, possibly with a playoff berth on the line
Much rather have it locked up and make the Ravens clinch in Week 17. I don’t see them losing.
If we clinch now, and lose Monday, Baltimore clinches with a win in Week 16, so we don’t need to play anyone in Week 17. Get some rest, we need it.

I’m not too worried about Cleveland. Take away the fumbles from two players that don’t fumble and the injury to Ben, and that game would have been a lot worse for them.

did you happen to catch the update with the Pats? I could have swore Grossman fumbled in the endzone, and it was recovered by Wilfork in the end zone. But then it showed a td to Gronkowski making the score 14-3. They did have a touchdown early in the game too. Wtf?

Ben Tate fumbles at Cincinnati 3 yard line
Bengals still lead 6-3. The Bengals need to lose for every Steelers playoff-clinching scenario to occur.
Exactly why do we want the Bungals to lose again?
If they win they’ll be 8-5 while, while the Texans will be 10-3.

He wants the Steelers to clinch today. I personally would rather have the Texans Patriots and Ravens lose and the Bengals to keep winning. I’d like a 1 or 2 seed. A team this “experienced” could benefit greatly from a first round bye

I want that number one seed too and rooting for the Texans to win will make that difficult to occur. Speaking of the Pats. theyre currently down by the 3 to the Skins. Somehow they’ll blow it like how they blew it againist the Jets but i’m crossing my fingers and hope that dosen’t occur.

I think its the economy.
Ohio has been hard hit by the recession, lots of fans just cant afford to spend 200/300 for a day out anymore.
That is one of the reasons for sure
But another reason is that most fans in Cincy won’t pay those high ticket prices to go see a average team that’s run by a total buffoon.

Let's keep in mind
Cleveland had the ball inside Pittsburgh’s 20 down 7-3 under four minutes left in the game.
Their dizzy QB made the dumbest throw of his career, and we got a big play from Brown. There’s the ball game, but it’s not like they didn’t have a chance to win it. Not a team to take lightly.
by Neal Coolong on Dec 11, 2011 2:48 PM EST up reply actions
Believe me I know
William Gay is the man of the game for what he did. Your right there a team not to take lighly because they have some valuable assets like Hills, Cribbs etc but i’m saying that even on our worse day we can still be competive with them.
I don’t believe in taking ANY team lightly because if you do that there can be that strong chance that a team can create a upset againist you. I think that’s why we always have a tough time beating crappy teams, that we don’t take them seriously and as a result we play to the level of our competition.

This is what happens when officials lose control of the game
And from what I’m reading, there’s been a ton of bad calls. It’s an emotional game, and things break down when the officials don’t do their jobs.
Look at the Steelers/Raiders game last year. Without question the worst officiated game I’ve ever seen at any level. It got so bad by the end I thought a full-out brawl was gonna happen.

He played real well.
Flacco has to trust his receivers to make catches, but shouldn’t throw towards coverage. He needs to attack deep more often, but shouldn’t hold onto the ball so long. He needs to show more awareness in the pocket and move to extend plays, but nothing good comes of him leaving the pocket. He should run with the ball if nobody’s open, but he definitely can’t run with the ball.
Flacco should have the awareness of Roethlisberger, the elusiveness of Vick, the control of the offense of Manning, the leadership of Brady, the accuracy of Brees, and the arm strength of … Flacco? - Ampallang
I actually wanted Cinci to beat Houston.
I want Cinci to stay relevant in the playoff race. Seeing as there is no way they can catch the Steelers, so hopefully their week 17 game means something for both teams and the Ravens and Bengals beat the shit out of each other right before the playoffs start.

Looks like it to me. Lets say he wins a playoff game, which would be the Texans first ever playoff win, Schaub is 30. Do you play Yates next season and trade Schaub?
May be a bit harsh because Schaub was having a great season before the injury, and yes it has only been two games, but he has looked pretty good.

Broncos O-line is so good
they give Tebow so much time and all he does is check down. The O-line and defense of the broncos is the reasons the Broncos win, not QB play.
Imagine if we had that kind of time, and running lanes!

49ers have played four teams who have winning records: Cowboys, Bengals, Lions and Ravens
They bet Cincy and Detroit, lost to Baltimore and Dallas.
Not taking them lightly, but they are certainly not the powerhouse team many believe them to be. I still think we match up really well against them

And it is great that the main reason people hate him is because he expresses his religion as much as he does. LOVE TEBOW!!!
- Ampallang

and even I am starting to think tebow has god on his side, it has to be some kind of divine intervention. EVERYTHING went the broncos way in the 4th quarter, the stars aligned absolutely perfectly late in the game for like the 6th time this year for that team
Lol, from a fellow Atheist, this is still coincidence. There have been many many Christians who have played in this league and been very outwards with their religion. Drew Brees was horrible early in his career, Kurt Warner was as well. Yes both won Superbowls but both were good Quarterbacks
This whole Tebow thing will end eventually. The Denver defense must be getting tired

there is power behind collective thought. that we could call it ‘prayer’ is one thing, but if enough people believe in an outcome, it predisposes it to happen.

That’s the difference between the defense being okay to really good. His development is strongly correlated with their winning as much as Tebow’s ability to not turn the ball over is.

you literally get about 40-50 extra yards with your driver at the driving range just due to the altitude. Prater is still a stud tho

you'd be surprised
if your not used to playing at 5280 ft. Some of the courses in the mountains are at like 9000 ft. A shot that you would use a 6 iron for at sea level, is probably a 7, or possibly even 8 iron at altitude.
You also get alot drunker alot faster in the thin air, which i enjoy

The Steelers are second in points and yards per game. But really, the difference is experience. Experience is a negative when it comes to injuries (older players suffer more injuries), but it’s a positive against unusual players and schemes like Denver’s.

Flacco should have the awareness of Roethlisberger, the elusiveness of Vick, the control of the offense of Manning, the leadership of Brady, the accuracy of Brees, and the arm strength of … Flacco? - Ampallang
all this Tebow hype, when he hasn’t even played against a top 5 D, and his D hasn’t played against any good offences
Trust me, all those noodle arm throws he makes, our defenses would be all over it. I would be VERY surprised if he completed 50% of his passes for over 100 yards against either of our defenses.
- Ampallang
you think we can take them?
i think we will destroy them. they aren’t a complete team by any stretch of the imagination.
Pittsburgh playing Denver in the first round is best case scenario for the Steelers without a doubt.
I’d say best case scenario is not playing in the first round at all

Houston, yes, NE, no. The head to head is the first tiebreaker. Steelers beat the Pats. So, that would give our team the second seed.

Not in a three way tie
NE wins the three team tiebreaker, earning the #1 seed. Then, it’s a tiebreaker between Hou & Pit for the #2 seed, which Hou wins. Pit would then be the #3 seed.
The head to head is the first tiebreaker.
That’s only if a team beat both. What I said before is the truth. If all of Hou, NE & Pit finish 13-3 (and Baltimore does not), Pit is #3 seed.
13.
Sucks that it will be in Denver

San Fran Loss Hurts Us
It would have been nice for us to play San Fran while they were riding high. Coming off two straight losses, they will be desperate for a win.
grain of salt
They don't have 3 straight losses
They beat STL a week ago.

Anyone watch the post game interview with John Fox?
not sure if its only on cause im in Denver, but even Fox is sitting in the press conference “thanking the lord for this” and “feeling blessed for that”. Im telling you Tebow is gonna end up converting this entire city to christianity. The new bible belt is being born in the rockie mountains with the mormons in Salt Lake city and the devout Tebow maniacs in Denver.
Man, Trent Dilfer makes me feel sick. “There is something bigger at work here”

Broncos are a bad matchup for the Pats
The Broncos are a bad matchup for the Pats. The Pats have a terrible defense. The worst that Tebow has yet seen. They gave up 24 points to Rex Grossman and the Skins on Sunday.
And the Broncos defense might be able to stop Brady. They have the corners & safeties to play the same type of coverage schemes that we played against the Pats.
The Pats will be favored in this game, but by less than 7.

Yeah, that'll be an awesome game
Too bad there’s a good chance a loss there will be irrelevant due to our tough game at SF. they’re probably going to play the game of their lives against us like most teams do.

IN other news
did anybody see the packers/oakland yawner? GB challenged a fumble recovered by Oakland, and after a long time in the booth the ruling on the field is overturned and the packers get the ball back. A bit later Oakland punts (I think it was, rather than a kickoff) to GB and the returner takes it well into Oakland territory. But you could see from the replay that the runner was out of bounds briefly, way back around the Packers 40. So Hue Jackson challenges, and after a while the ref comes out with a smirk on his face, and what do you know, the replay assistant is broken, so the ruling on the field stands. Unbelievable… Oakland actually played better after that, for a while, anyhow…

Replay equipment was also apparently broken in the 49ers-Cardinals game
It’s the middle of the 2nd quarter and the 49ers line up for a 50-yard FG, but they fake it and the holder completes like a 15-yard pass to Kyle Williams to get into the red zone.
It gets called back though, because before the ball was snapped Whisenhunt challenged the ruling on the previous play – which was an 11-yard completion to the very same Kyle Williams.
Ref comes back and says that unfortunately the replay equipment is broken, so Whisenhunt gets his challenge back and is not penalized a timeout. Replay 4th down.
49ers can’t try to run the same fake again, so this time they do try to kick the 50-yarder. Akers misses.
Whomp.

That's why they're called the Bungles.
Has there ever been a pro spots franchise so adept at pulling defeat from the jaws of victory? Another bamboo shoot under the fingernail for the Bungle fans. Now’s your chance to get those fire-sale prices on Bungle jerseys and ball caps; or you could just wait until next December about the same time. The curse of Mike Brown lives!
Honestly, it's sad,
although I was certainly grateful a week ago…

I agree they'll improve next season, but they've been through this same drill before.
It’ll be humorous, though, listening to Who Dey Nation talking smack once again come September 2012. These guys are the Wile E. Coyote of the NFL; always so sure they’ve got the drop on you, right up until they notice they’ve run off the edge of the cliff again.
It sucks when the cold weather arrives and you don't have an indoor practice facility

Anyone see Dez Bryant's TD celebration after that walk in touchdown catch?
he totally swagger jacked Hines Ward, did the exact same dance.
I love that the whole "icing the kicker" thing worked out in that game
Its SO funny too me how they always show Jerry Jone’s old ass up in his box throughout the game, and when Dallas scores he gets all super excited, then they always show the inevitable 4th quarter shot of Jerry watching his team blow it. In both situations he looks like he is having a heart attack.
