Steeler Secondary

The Steelers have the number one pass defense in 2011. Troy Palamalu selected to his 6 straight Pro Bowl. Ryan Clark has been steady all year. Ike Taylor has only given up 2 touchdowns the entire year. If he had 5 interceptions instead of 2, he would've made the Pro Bowl. William Gay(Bouchette and Dulac agree) has played better than Ike Taylor. Keenan Lewis and Arnaz Battle(Bouchette and Dulac state the Steelers love) have been superb in the nickel and dime package.

Star-divide

Come 2012 Troy Palamalu and William Gay will both be unrestricted free agents. For me, giving Troy Palamalu big-money is too much of a risk reward. I hope he takes a pay cut to retire as a Steeler. Or I am happy with Ryan Mundy as the strong safety. I believe some team will offer William Gay and inflated contract that the Steelers cannot match because of the Salary Cap. Mike Wallace is going to demand and will receive a monster contract and the Steelers also might want to lock up Antonio Brown. Therefore, I see a competition between Keenan Lewis and Arnaz Battle as 2012 right cornerback.

So I'm asking Steel Curtain members what you would do if you were Kevin Colbert and what you believe the Steelers will do in 2012.

Steeler Secondary

I did not choose the players in brown or red.

what are you talking about?

1. Gay has played good, yes, but not better than Ike.
2. Troy signed a four-year contract back in September, I believe.

I doubt anyone offers Gay a contract that the Steelers won’t match, and if they do then I hope Lewis or Allen can step in as our second CB. However, I don’t see Gay leaving.

3. Hopefully Wallace doesn’t want too much because I would hate to see him go, but I wouldn’t shed a tear if he left. Plus, wouldn’t we get like a draft pick or something since he’s a RFA? I have no idea how that stuff works.

4. We don’t have to worry about signing Brown yet as he still has a few years left on his rookie contract.

Steelers formula

Show them love and coach them up as rooks. If they want to get a good pay day and they deserve it we usually give it to them. If they don’t deserve what they’re asking and are blinded by $ signs then let them walk and start the process over again. It’s tried and trued. It’s the reason we contend every year. Troy is locked up as a Steeler. Wallace may look elsewhere but he’s replaceable. Yes I said replaceable. Brown has another year. Don’t worry about these things. Our FO knows how to keep us competitive without overspending. Let’s enjoy this secondary right now. Remember last year when the secondary was the weak link in our team? Didn’t take much more than bringing in Carnell to teach the boys a thing or two about playing smart Steelers DB football. I love it. Go Steelers!

This post is very confusing

and riddled with misinformation. No one believes William Gay is better than Ike Taylor, Arnaz Battle is not a defensive back, and Troy Polamalu already signed an extension and will most likely retire a Steeler……

Only Belichick would be genius enough to turn Arnaz Battle into a DB.

Polamalu

Not palamalu.
At least spell his name right

One of the great disappointments of a football game is that the cheerleaders never seem to get injured.
