"Roster move: Hoke and Dwyer go on IR. LB Mortty Ivy, SS Damon Cromartie-Smith added to 53."
- The Steelers make the expected move of placing NT Chris Hoke on IR following his announcement of neck surgery in recent days. The Dwyer move is more interesting, not many of us knew his injury was that serious.

Moving Cromartie-Smith to the 53 man roster...
Perhaps in preparation for a playoff game in Denver in which the Steelers starting free safety will be sidelined?

Possibly so, they most likely were looking for a way to sneak the legend that is DCS onto the roster for a long time.

I remember back in 2010 you hyped about this kid
Now I’m curious lol
PSN: vynottycesarini (add me to play Madden NFL 11 :) )
I mentioned him as an UDFA prospect in some draft post, then my interest waned slightly around draft time, but as soon as he was in our organization, I fell in love again.

Why would we travel to Denver...
…when we have a better record and also won our division? :)

Any more injuries at RB means rookie John Clay will be up ...
I knew Hokie was done for the year but J. Dwyer was a surprise. He was starting to come on a little bit. I expect he and Baron Batch to make the squad next year at RB behind Mendy and Redman. We’re at that time of the season where teams are just looking for healthy bodies each week.
I can’t remember a time recently where the Steelers had 5 safeties on the roster.
With Clark’s play slipping a little, particularly against the pass, these last few games and the playoffs will be a good time for Ryan Mundy and DCS to audition for jobs next year.
Sure, but I'd imagine he's assuming Moore will make his way out of the NFL
Probably by being passed by superior talent in Batch, Clay (maybe) or anyone else they draft.

John Clay comes up if ...
There is an injury to either Mendy, Redman or Moore. The Steelers are only carrying 3 RB’s right now with Dwyer going to IR. Clay is the only RB on the practice squad.
I predict Batch is a PS player next year.
Moore probably gets one more and no one has any tape at all on Batch.

I thinking thinking this could be the case
Batch would get an extra year to recover and develop. It all depends on how ell Batch does between now and end of training camp and whether Moore returns. I don’t see Clay as this type of back. He would be looking for Dwyer or Redman to go down.

Batch isn't as "under the radar" as you might think.
I can’t see him going on the ps next year, with Moores age. Not a risk Tomlin/Colbert will take. I say he makes the roster and MeMo is gone.

This precisely
MeMo gives great effort, and has had an under-rated career in a lot of ways. But, for the past three seasons, I’ve been looking for the team to replace him with a younger, better version, and I believe Batch can be that guy.

I predict you are wrong. And Batch makes the 53. Caveat being if his knee is not 100%, which I doubt. ACL injuries aren’t a killer like they used to be.

Batch is...
a Darren Sproles type of player…he will not be on the PS next year!
not sure what kind of Ivy that is?

Variegated English Ivy I believe but I wouldn't swear to it.
