As I read and listen to all of the blogs, websites, and various other mechanisms of communication today, I am sick of all the candy-ass wimps out there that are attacking James Harrison. Here are some of the articles popping up on the internet:
ESPN: http://espn.go.com/blog/afcnorth/post/_/id/37577/steelers-james-harrison-just-isnt-learning
Yahoo: http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/blog/shutdown_corner/post/Headhunter-James-Harrison-flagged-for-vicious-h?urn=nfl-wp13494
Now, according to these two writers, James Harrions is a "headhunter" and takes "cheap shots."
To both of them, I say this: review the tape more closely, it was a clean hit. Or, better yet, interview Mr. Harrison in person for his perspective and then call him a "headhunter" or "cheap shot" artist/
As the headline reads, all of this crap is proof-positive that the "pussification" of America is in full effect (Mechem, that is the phrase you coined, right?). I typically do not use this type of language, but I am furious at the audacity of these various moral cowards that attack Harrion's character and personal integrity and I believe they are only engaging in this farce because they have come to think it is perfectly acceptable to do so. James Harrison is a guy that loves his family, plays hard every down, and makes it a point to give back to those less fortunate than himself. Moreover, I've watched the hit on McCoy from every angle and the only thing I see is a dumb-ass kid leaving his feet in front of JAMES HARRISON. I realize he was trying to make a play and I applaud his courage, but he put himself at an angle that would have required Harrison to bend over backwards not to hit him with his helmet. If McCoy doesn't leave his feet, Harrion's hit would have been a text-book perfect form tackle. Instead, the kid jumps up to dump off the pass, less than two steps away from an on-coming tackler, and gets hit in the chin. Even with that move, the hit was still facemask to facemask, and not crown-to-crown. Yes, the hit was severe, but that is part of the game. Furthermore, McCoy was running, not sitting back in the pocket in a defenseless posture that needs protection. Maybe I'm off on this one, but I am sick and tired of all the cheese-dicks taking such cheap shots at the Steelers.
So, what does everyone think, clean hit or cheap shot?
