A Cautionary Tale.

It was interesting to live in SE Wisconsin for the past month; as it became real for the Steelers and Packers to face each other in XLV, many of our friends and relatives here gave us some good-natured ribbing, ragging and bravado. One of these, a close and beloved relative who is a rabid Packer Fan (let's call this person PF) was relatively silent - PF had known since the 90s that I wanted to see a Packers-Steelers SB. PF had done some great favors for us over the years, including getting us excellent seats at Lambeau for the game in 2005 - my son still considers it a high point in his life.

We didn't SB Party with PF this year - we were invited, but the logistics weren't there. PF was thrilled with the Packers' win, but didn't call, email or FB us to gloat (as many did, most humorously). PF became ill, a trip to the hospital, then a bigger hospital, with a blood pressure related issue. PF is still in the hospital, after a "one step forward, two steps back" kind of recovery/descent.

My friends, football fans everywhere, it just isn't worth it. Enjoy the game, the playoffs, the SB, but don't let it take you to where you don't want to go.
