The Steelers Are 10-0 When This Happens
What is "this"?
I'll get to that in a moment. In the meantime, read up on some Mike Tomlin. If you haven't read it yet, an awesome profile on the coach. Also even awesomer is this picture of him from his days as a wide receiver at William & Mary.

Anyway, if you're an MT fan it's definitely worth the read.
If you haven't got your glory days fix, head on over to YouTube where you can probably view the 2008 Pittsburgh Steelers road to the Super Bowl edition for a while until someone gets wise. Just incredible stuff from Mr. Defensive Player of the Year Troy Polamalu in that one. He seems so centered and humble, yet at one point reveals that he's a Jedi Master. The Force is strong with this one.
OK so what is it that makes the Steelers undefeated -- over the last three seasons, I might add? The sports bar where I watch the Steelers when I can. This particular streak goes back to 2008 and includes some of the better games to have seen, including the prior playoff run. Also, over the last three seasons, the Steelers are 15-1 when I watch them play, including 14-0 when I watch them on television (they're 1-1 when I attend the game, both at the Tennessee Titans). We don't have broadcast or cable TV up in the mountains where I live, so I have to drive down into town when I want to catch the big games (unfortunately, life intervenes often enough that I can't see every game - in those cases I follow along on the internet). I'm a bit superstitious, I'll admit. I also refuse to wear the colors of either team on the day of the game.
So, why aren't I watching every game on TV, then? Let's face it, I got me some serious mojo. But mojo doesn't come in infinite supply. The only explanation I can give is this: My mojo, can't spread it thin -- it's gotta be for the big games only.
What's your mojo? Tell me about it.

So are you going to watch or not?
If you buy a foreign made product you give money to a person who will not be buying an American made product that you get paid to make. Think about it next time you're at the store.
Hmmm. Yes. Let me get back to you on that one.
Which only makes me say DOUBLE YOI!
Actually I’m presented with not so much a dilemma as an opportunity to be awkward with my friends. I’ve offered 3 straight games now for some friends to join me (non-Steelers fans), and they’ve been noticeably absent. Now it’s the Super Bowl and they want to watch, but at another location.
Hmmm. Yes. Let me get back to you on that one.
I can assure you I’ll be at the same place I’ve watched the Steelers win ten straight! I’ll order the same food and the same beers, and I’ll take note of any significant changes that seem to influence the mojo. During the Ravens game, another friend and his dad showed up in the second half and it was almost shocking how abruptly the game turned to our favor. During the Jets game it was cold so I kept my jacket on. In the second half I took the jacket off, only to put it back on (even though I was literally sweating) during the Jets time-consuming drive that ended in the goal line stand.
Mojo – you can’t control it, you can only hope to contain it.

Mojo
My sister’s boyfriend is a Chargers fan but for the Ravens playoff game he decided to put on one of her Polamalu jerseys to support the time. I strongly advised against it. Let’s just say he took it off at half time and the rest is history…DON’T F**K WITH THE MOJO!

heh
tell the Chargers fans you know that we don’t need any of the kind of mojo they got.
With all due respect, of course.

Interesting mojo here...
Our 3rd child Thomas was born on January 13th 2006. His first trip outside was to our sports bar and grill where we watched the Steelers beat the Seahawks to win the Super Bowl.
Our 4th child Bridget was born January 26th 2008. Her first trip out was to watch the Steelers beat the Cardinals in the Super Bowl.
Child number 5, Michael, was born on October 9th 2010. I begged my wife to banish the child to our house for a few months so we could present him at this years SB. That didn’t happen, but now we are thinking every year we have a new baby, that the Steelers will win the Super Bowl.

if your baby mojo really works
then I’m sure Steeler Nation will pony up for a van.
And a fertility clinic.

My SB XL Terrible towel turned out to be
bad luck as did my SB XL Polamolu jersey. They do not see the light of day during the season anymore. This year, during the play-offs, I have worn my Home Black James Harrison jersey to work and around the streets of Seattle each Friday.
Against the Ravens, we had to record something else on TV so I went to the gym to watch the game. I mentioned this to Michael Bean. I decided to get on the stairmaster and stay on it the entire game with only a few breaks in between quarters for water refills and bio breaks.
In the first half, I was on machine number 3. I went for 101 minutes, walked up 399 floors, travelling 8.31 miles and burned 1155 cals.
I considered just giving up since there was not much hope being down 21-7.
Instead, I switched to machine 1 (right in front of the big screen) and decided to make myself so tired that I’d be too exausted to think much after the game. Kind of take the edge off of losing to the hated Ravens. I decided to set the steps per minute count to 75 summoning Joe Green during the all but commercial breaks where I reduced it to 60.
The change of machine and Joe Green’s 75 seemed to create a spark and, as we all know how things transpired from there… I knew I had to maintain this pace for the remainder of the game lest I be responsible for the Steelers falling short.
The one thought I had just before Ben hit AB on the 3-19 play, was “Please do NOT go into Overtime” Unless of course that was the only way for the Steelers to pull it out. At the time 24-24 with 3-19.. I was thinking pin them deep and maybe get one more shot in the final seconds.
Then he hit AB and I must have yelled quite loudly (had my headphones on listening to the game) as many people gave me dirty looks…
I was jubulant to be sure and the next few minutes were a piece of cake.
I finished with a total of 193 minutes, 713 stories, 15.81 milesm and 2178 calroies burned.
I was mentally and physically drained and seeing as though the TV would be free for the AFCC, I decided to NOT make this a tradition.
Just the James Harrison Jersey like last week.
I would have never thought a stairmaster could have mojo
Still, I’m sure you prefer the jersey.

So how late is the gym open?
I trust you will be back on the stairmaster!
Now what was more important to record than watching the steelers?

24 Hours (It's called 24 hour fitness)
Ryomaden… NHK Taiga Drama. A Japanese Historical drama about Sakamoto Ryoma.
The subtitled version is on Saturday and we committed to recording it for several people including ourselves (mainly me).
Andt they got through the AFCC okay without me so I’ll just do the jersey thing again…
Are you in Newport News by any chance?
I think there was a 24hr fitness that just opened by my house.
oh and….
GET TO STEPPIN’!!!!!

It was at the club in Issaquah where I live.
Sometimes I workout downtown since I work close by there, but I prefer the newer Super Sport club in Issaquah the most. Better scenery, there, too. ;>
You guys aren’t reading very closely, now are you?
They did just fine with me at home in the AFCC. I’m wearing Deebo’s jersey now, and I’ll do the same for the SB… I mean, what if machine #3 is the only one available? LOL
BTW: I did go to the downtown club today and there was a guy in the Steelers shirt there. He told me there’s a Steeler’s bar in Renton, but I forgot the name already.

I have to go to sleep in my #7 road jersey on Saturday night now
so I can wake up in it on Sunday.
Guiness and my undefeated cap will be utilized throughout the day.
Oh jeeze Steelers…. Superbowl…. 2 days…. 7

My list of "mojo"
Beer Mug- so far in the playoffs its perfect.
My number 43 jersey has lost 4 times this year.
My Harrison Jersey is mostly uncontested. I wore it a couple of times this year and both of them were with wins. And a side note here is that my son wore my jersey so i had to switch to the Harrison. Hmmm…
oh the Steelers are 2-1 when im on the road traveling. Panthers and Browns this year, and Ravens last year.
I wont be watching the game with any Steeler haters. When i went to my brothers inlaws(Redskins fan, but Baltimore native) we lost to the Ravens. Last year on my birthday, Steelers lost to the Bengals. I also watched that game with my buddy(Patriots fans). I also watched this years Steelers vs Patriots with him and they lost. So I’ll will not be watching it with you.
I’ve been wearing my Polamalu jersey all week, so hopefully it has acquired good mojo for a win, because we all know the Packers are so much better
"Franco made that play because he never quit on the play. He kept running, he kept hustling. Good things happen to people who hustle."
Watching the Ravens game
and getting our butts kicked, my buddy realized he had his Harrison jersey on. There was nothing wrong with the defense but offense needed a spark so he ran out and changed to his Ward jersey. The rest is history!
We have to have a Hawaiian pizza and stay away from the one chair in the room that gives off negative vibes. Anyone in the negative chair risks disaster.
We are all doing this, tongue in cheek, but the Terrible Towel I waved during the 95 Super Bowl has only seen the light of day two more times. We lost both times. That towel will never leave the closet as long as I live. Fortunately, like any good Steeler fan, I have plenty of spares.

Superstitions are not stupid
No matter what my wife says. Party for the Ravens game at my house with 15 people. We’re up 7-0 when the neighbor comes over. He leaves at halftime with us down 21-7. He is never allowed in my place during a game again. Went to Munich for work for the AFCCG and found a sports bar at the Marriott where the game started at 12:30 AM. The bartender was true to his word and kept the place open to the end where I was out-manned for the first time in recent memory by Jets fans about 20-10. I had the only terrible towel which I gave to a German guy in a Kordello jersey after our victory since it had won a game in Germany. He has promised to return for the SB with the towel.
Our tradition is to have a shot of malt whisky after Steeler TDs. I got a bottle of Macalland-12yo sitting on my bar for tomorrow. And nobody better sit in my chair.
I hear ya true.
No one but me sits in my chair either. I’ll wear the same I wore for the Ws over the Ratbirds and Jets. And I’ll drink beer, going out to the garage to bring each one in, one at a time, because thats what I did for the last two games.
The single malt after each TD reminds me of Willie Stargell. He had a chicken place in the Hill district. Willie’s on the Hill IIRC. Every time he hit a HR everyone in the place got some free chicken. I hope you need 2 bottles tomorrow.
My Sunday Tradition
For the last two seasons win or lose I do the same thing. I feel consistency breeds quality (sounds like Tomlin would say that).
Willie Parker home authentic Jersey.
Black and yellow slip on shoes (not crocs lol)
Black jeans even in summer heat
Yellow T shirt underneath
My towel I got for SBXL (normal towel style) tucked in the pocket ready to go…
I eat at the same restaurant pregame and get pumped. Were over 500 when I do this lol.
