My Steelers mock draft - edition 5

I did a mock draft yesterday for the whole NFL that did not have trades. When I do Steelers mocks I will use trades

In this scenario

Steelers Trade: Rd 1 (31), Rd 3(31), Rd 6(31)

New Orleans trades: Rd 1(24), Rd 7(24)

Why do this trade: The Seahawks pick at 25 and are likely to pick Brandon Harris. The Saints will be willing to move down because at 24 none of the DL prospects are worth the pick.

Round 1 Pick 24: Brandon Harris | CB | Miami

Harris is my favorite CB prospect in this draft besides the top 2. Harris has a great combination of speed and size and is an above average tackler. His best asset is his elite playmaking ability.

Round 2 Pick 31: Marcus Cannon | OG | TCU

Cannon is one of my favorite Guards in this class. He is 335 pounds and has great footwork. He is better at run blocking but is still an upgrade at pass blocking over any of our RG's. Will start right away.

Round 4 Pick 31: Kendrick Ellis | NT | Hampton

How fitting that our NT of the future went to Hampton University. Ellis is similar to Casey in his rare combination of size and speed. Ellis is 340 pounds and with two years of spelling and learning from Casey Hampton, he will be an elite NT. I think besides Phil Taylor, Ellis has the most star potential of any NT in this class. People will write him off as a bust after a year or two but I think that by the time Casey retires, Ellis will be ready to replace him

Round 5 Pick 31: Steven Friday | OLB | Virginia Tech

Losing Gibson and Worthington makes OLB a bigger need. We only have one backup in Worilds and Friday is a good option to become the second backup and eventually replace Deebo. He has good speed and a terrific burst. He is also very advanced as far as pass coverage goes.

Round 7 Pick 24: DeAndre Brown | WR | Southern Mississippi

Brown has first round potential if he stayed in college another year. He has a rare combination of size, speed, and hands and will become a great WR in this league. If we don't think Sweed is the answer, this pick becomes even more important. After a year of developing and learning from Hines he can replace him when he retires. He has great potential to be a #1 WR. Think about this. He is 6-6, 230lbs, and runs a 4.45 40 yard dash. And has great hands.

Round 7 Pick 31: Derek Hall | OT | Stanford

He will have to work to make the team but he has ideal size for a LT in this league. He is 6-5, 310 pounds. I think with a year of learning he could become our starting LT.
