the owners started negotiations asking for $1 billion in additional expense credits which probably meant they were always willing to take $500 million. lat nite, the number was already at $640 million. today, the owners offered to split the difference, accepting 1/3 of their oringinal demand or $320 million. the players last and best offer was $137.5 million. so at the end of the day, the sides in total were apart by $182.5 million or $5.7 million per team. the difference is less than 2% of total NFL revenue.
less than $200 million apart could mean this is a short fight. but what i think it means is that both sides are now done with that, they both want to win and impose their will. this is not good, it looks like a long pissing match. thoughts?
