I decided to take a run at a mock taking into consideration the oldest players on the team and selecting their replacements in the draft.
The oldest Steelers players are as follows:
C.Batch, QB, Age 36
J.Farrior, ILB, 35
F.Adams, OT, 35
H.Ward, WR, 35
C.Hoke, NT, 34
A.Smith, DE, 34
C.Hampton, NT, 33
I decided to go with the oldest player's replacement being selected in the first round and so on. So what I was looking for was RD1= Qb, RD2 = ILB, RD3 = OT, RD4 = WR, RD5 = NT, RD6 = DE, RD7 = NT. Taking into consideration what players would be availabe at the time the Steelers select (no trades), this is what my draft looks like.
RD1 = Christian Ponder , QB, Florida State
RD2 = Quan Sturdivant, ILB, North Carolina
RD3 = Marcus Gilbert, OT, Florida
RD4 = Stephen Burton, WR, Texas A&M
RD5 = Anthony Gray, NT, Southern Miss
RD6 = Mike Blanc, DE, Auburn
RD7 = Terron Sanders, NT, Florida
So there you have it. A youth movement, unconvetional mock draft.
