BTSC 2011 Community Mock Draft Pick No. 43-- Minnesota Vikings select Brandon Harris
I was extremely surprised when I saw Harris still available. I thought for sure he would be already off the board. My 1st thought was a QB like Mallet since they have none worth mentioning. But when I saw Harris still there, I realized not only is he BPA but he also fits a huge need. Antoine Winfield is 34, Cedric Griffin is recovering from an ACL tear and is 29, and Chris Cook battled injuries all his rookie year. I really doubt the Vikings want Frank Walker anywhere near the field.

Good show: I can see the Vikes poucing on Harris at 43
Their question marks at CB are more pronounced than ours, despite the FA uncertainty affecting us both; I’m more confident in Ike sticking around in any event, that’s all.
Whereas some, including yours truly, see Harris at most as a nickel (in our system), it’s not too difficult to imagine him starting for the Vikes in 2011. Their needs and risks are that great.
In this mock scenario, though, they’ve gotta be worried about settling their declining pass rush issues sooner rather than later: Harris would benefit from not too much exposure out there, if he ends up starting for them in his rookie year.
