Breaking News; Lockout/Strike Over?
NFL Network is reporting that the owners have ratified the agreement they have been negotiating with the players. There is a conference call tonight at 8 PM EDT and the player reps will vote on the agreement. Latrobe by Saturday? If so let me be the first to say "HERE WE GO STEELERS HERE WE GO!!"

of course

When I wake up and Roger Goodell is not commissioner...
…I’ll be excited about the return of football. For now, count me in for a golf clap.

by that time you will be shooting under par every time
unfortunately goodell is going nowhere unless someone assasinates him or he gets cancer.
it’s funny though, now the players are not sure they want to ratify the contract b/c they are feeling under pressure. a lot of players are unhappy that the owners voted first and put them in a corner. they don’t like that they have to recertify as a union by next tuesday (this is a condition of the new CBA) and many players are unhappy with the new revenue sharing.
this will get done but what a f***ing mess, at least there is no opt-out in this new agreement, whatever they sign will be in force for 10 years.
why do they care about revenue sharing?

it was thrown in last minute and they had no part of these negotiations
and it is really amongst owners so they don’t really need to have a say but initially they thought the owners were out to trick them.
but i think the players were just looking for excuses, they were mad b/c the owners voted first and put them in a corner.
At this point I refuse to get excited until the deal is 100% done
But this is still good news.
sounds like the players think the owners modified the agreement before they sent it to the NFLPA today
And the players are pissed. This could totally unravel the whole deal.
Right now is the most pessimistic I’ve ever felt about our chances of seeing the Steelers beat the ravens at M&T Bank Stadium on 9/11/11.
"I don't want to injure anybody," James Harrison said. "But I'm not opposed to hurting anybody."
"It was an attrition football game and you know we like that."
I find a small amount of comfort in that
They are in the same boat as we are, and cant really prepare themselves. Whichever team has a bigger makeover will probably be the loser of that game. Our secondary vs their receiving corps are the main two areas where change is likely to happen
A long way from Pittsburgh PA, in fact, 8653.2 miles to be precise. My blood still bleeds black and gold like the rest of Steeler Nation, proud fan since 2002.
BTSC's token Kiwi fan. That means I'm a New Zealander. Yes, that small country next to Australia....no we are not part of Australia

Depending on what happens with Ike
I think the Steelers would benefit more from the shorterened off season to play the Ravens. We’d get Starks back and still have the same team that beat them twice in a row. Maybe, that is just optimism.

I'm betting on more injuries across the board for many NFL teams
Including us.
In a contact sport like this, you need the violence of training camp and preseason to prepare you for the regular season. They might not like it, but wanting something and needing something are two different things.
Pittsburgh Steelers fan - nuff said.
Miami Hurricanes fan - nuff said.
Georgetown Hoyas fan - nuff said.
Cleveland Cavaliers fan - um yeah, about that...

More games.
They are going to end up hurting the game if they keep this up, and I still don’t’ think that’s even possible. They are seriously determined to tick off more fans.
I’m so glad the Pirates are competitive.
Yeah...the O's aren't
So its made the off season pretty awful for me

It's so weird that the Buccos are good
I’ve already made my bed with the Rays, but I have to root for these guys!

looks like the NFLPA board will vote monday
and the owners have agreed to let the players re-certify as a union by signing union cards at the opening of training camps on weds. this is great news!
FINALLY! DEAL IS REALLY DONE
Sources: Deal to end lockout reached!
THIS DEAL IS FINALLY DONE, PRESS CONFERENCE MONDAY!
NEW LEAGUE YEAR OPENS WEEK FROM YESTERDAY (Sat, July 30th)
Everyone’s talking about and getting ready for fantasy football now that we can actually see a season happening.
Was talking to someone about how fantasy football is always offense, no defense.. so I decided to give a “defense only” league a try.
Thought the Steel Curtain fans might find it fun.

start your engines, it's on this afternoon!
• Teams can sign their own free agents and begin talking with other unrestricted free agents Monday afternoon.
• Teams can begin signing unrestricted free agents Tuesday at noon ET but those contracts would not take effect until Aug. 2.

tomorrow, i believe you can negotiate with any player
transactions won’t be effective until friday but there is no window to exclusively deal with your own FAs.
changed to tuesday
but earlier they were reporting today. either way you know everyone is doing business and will just plead ignorance if they get caught.
i also hear there is no window to exclusively sign your own FAs, basically it is a scrum or a mosh pit.
Did you think it wouldnt end?
Both sides are greedy bitches. Too much money to lose if they didn’t come up with a deal. But the NBA will lose some season but as long as they are back on after the SB I will be okay
