Dixon Trade Rumor
Yahoo! reports via the Post-Gazette that the Steelers are considering trading QB Dennis Dixon. Dixon showed some value and potential in last night's game against the Eagles. I am for it, if they swap Dixon and a pick or two (third round or lower) or a lineman of their own for Mike Pouncey of the Dolphins. This trade has been discussed before, but what other options would you endorse?

Trade Dixon, Tyler Grisham and Kyle Jolly for Mike Pouncey
Maybe package a late round (5th-7th) pick as well.

Jolly is pretty worthless, AFAIC

It's funny you should ask...
Everyone in my family says I should have been a lawyer…
And yes, all potential cut guys. Duh! Why the hell would we trade someone we want to play? :)

Mike Pouncey
I doubt you could get Pouncey for less than a 1st, Dixon and maybe a 5th and that might be generous for Pouncey (unless he has looked really bad in preseason).

On second thought
There’s no way we’re getting Pouncey from Miami.

I agree
But I can see us packaging Dixon and another player or two for a veteran o-lineman or a draft choice.

Personally, I think you look at Taylor Mays
I think Dixon and a 5th would probably be enough for the 49ers. Mays comes in and becomes the heir-apparent to Troy in a few years.

Mike Pouncey Unlikely, But...
I do think we should trade Dixon. Dixon isn’t going to beat Leftwich for the second spot, but he could definitely compete for the starting spot on some teams. In the unlikely scenario that Ben and Byron get injured simultaneously (again) then we can always call up Batch.
I think that a veteran O-lineman would improve our chances of a good playoff run.
grain of salt
We're getting a can of sardines for Dixon and that's about it.
No team in their right mind would float a pick out there based on his performance/potential. He’s Kordell Stewart with worse field awareness.

Disagree on your estimate of his worth
He probably won’t bring anything more than a 6th (since he was signed to a 5th round tender and no one picked him up), but I wouldn’t be surprised to see him land us a 6-7.
