Cris Collinsworth: TwitterTrashTalk
Thank God for Twitter. Now we know how the world really feels about everything (in real-time)... Tonight's edition takes a brief look at some of the things the Twitterati is saying about Cris Collinsworth.
@BrendonSinclair- "Are we ever going to have a game that doesn't end on the final play?"--Cris Collinsworth asks the dumbest non-Joe Buck NFL question ever... Collinsworth's genius quote before Kafka's game ending Hail Mary fell short
@dhm- "Yeah, dust off the Falcon dust there" -- Insane thing CrisCollinsworth said during the Eagles game... (sneezing)
@DragonFlyJonez- Cris Collinsworth is one of those people who says "guesstimate"...
@NickBromberg- "Jeremy Maclin's made a lot of plays for the Philadelphia Eagles over the years" -- Cris Collinsworth.... Umm... J-Mac is a 3rd year player...
@DLFootball- Breaking news: The Philadelphia Eagles have agreed in principal with Cris Collinsworth to trade Mike Kafka for a 2nd round pick & cash... Collinsworth spent the last 5 minutes explaining to us how much the Eagles loved Kafka
@SeanHackbarth- I want to know what NBC focus groups thought of CrisCollinsworth... After Colliinsworth said he was really looking forward to watching NBC's new sitcom "Whitney"
@ProducerJB- "theres no doubt this is a one sided game" - Cris Collinsworth. uhh the score is 24-21…
NEXT UP: Joe Buck

He doesn’t hold a candle to Jim Nance and now, surprisingly, Phil Simms.
Simms and Buck are gonna fun… There were so many for Simms, I had to postpone. HE was my original selection!

Simms is the worst for me
Buck has no cred so it doesn’t matter what he says.

I thought Nance would need some Kleenex after last weeks game against Baltimore and the game yesterday in New England.
It WAS a national broadcast, right? Here I thought he was doing home play by play for the Bahstan crowd!
It's
all about Brady’s flowing locks and the grittiness of Danny Woodhead/Julian Edelman.

He even LOOKS
like a Bungul in the face…..repulsive looks and annoying commentating to go along with it, he’s the total package…

One time during an NCAAF broadcast on ESPN(maybe Oregon State-TCU last year)
The commentator said this after a nice catch late in the game: “That was the best hand job job of the night!”

Free Beer and Hot Wings Radio Show!
Check them out, I believe they broadcast out of Detroit but are relayed all over the country. They have a segment on Monday mornings called “sounds of the game.” They take sound bites from comentators that when taken out of football context are dirty. The best one was a few years ago from John Madden (which incidently started the segment). “He took it up the A-hole” referring too the RB running the ball between the gap of the center and guard.

Jim Nance is the worst....
Anyone that dons a green jacket and gushes in the stodgy and very weird Butler Cabin is not man enough to call a football game. He’s a letterman sweater weenie of the highest order, and you never learn one thing from his commentating. Too bad he works for CBS, and hence calls the majority of big Steelers games.
Some people think football is a matter of life and death. I don't like that attitude. I can assure them it is much more serious than that.
I like Moose and Goose but not Kenny Albert. Troy Aikmen is ok but Joe Buck is just terrible. I like both Jim Nance and Phil Simms. John Madden had his moments too. Always overstating the obvious and talking up Brett Favre. He over did his yellow lines too. I always knew, turning on a the Monday/Sunday Night game, Madden was going to be funny to listen too. I’m glad Tony Kornhisier is of Monday night football. As far as the commentator goes, there was none worse than him. Sometime I would mute the game and listen to the radio broadcast becuase of him. The commentator I’m excited for is Mike Mayock, I can’t wait for Thrusday night football on NFLN. I could listen to Mayock talk football (college or pro) for hours on end. As far as college football goes, Lou Holtz needs to hang it up. His lisp is annoying…
I agree
about Mayock, he knows his football like very few other commentators do

Marv Albert is the best of this generation.
Never fails to It will be a shame when he hangs it up, which I’d bet on happening in the next five or so years. He’s 70 now. Dick Enberg also has an engaging voice for whichever sport he is covering.
I agree with others who have mentioned Mayock, who not only knows the game of football but sounds more like a sports guy than a broadcaster, which I believe lends him more credibility. He hasn’t dropped his native Pennsylvania diction.

Too bad Enberg retired. :-(

Collinsworth is fantastic...
As long as Simms and Joe Buck are allowed to pollute the air waves then there is no way anybody else can come close.
At least Collinsworth spots some interesting things away from the camera focus and brings them up with his commentary occasionally (like pointing out some combo blocks last night).
Either way, as long as I have my DVR and the +30 second button, I don’t care who is commenting between plays because I’m not listening to them. Waiting an extra 45 minutes before watching the game is a small price to pay for sanity during the game in my book. I still wind up catching up by sometime in the 4th quarter.
The all new worst... TRENT DILFER.
Can not STAND him.
I won't disagree about Dilfer on MNF.
What is amazing to me is Dilfer is money when on tv doing a sportscentersegment or colin cowherd for example. I think they had the sound down low on him too during last weeks monday night game.
Collinsworth sounds like Arnold Horshack.
In case you don’t know who Arnold is, he was the geeky kid from the old TV series, “Welcome Back Kotter.”
He had a voice like chalk squeaking on a blackboard. Don’t understand how CC ever got a job as a network sportscaster.
Personally
it’s Simms for me…and it’s not his Steeler bias…it’s his bias that he displays almost every game, no matter who he is calling.
it screams of disappointed failure of a father.
ok maybe that’s going too far.. either way it seems like ‘grumpy old men"
I think Collinsworth is the perfect Madden replacement..he can be insightful, then in the same breath make you say “W.T.F?”
what more can you ask for? it’s like watching the Sopranos, SOA, or the Wire…you get it all
I get sick of Collinsworth, Dilfer and Jaws most of all.

jaws
I actually like him. He and chucky have a nice tone where they’re clearly fans of the game and they’re analyzing the game with supporting points instead of just pushing their opinions.
by Steely McSmash on Sep 20, 2011 1:01 PM EDT up reply actions
I like Chucky, but Jaws always seems to say the same thing every single week about different players. You can almost guess what he is about to say.
One week it is “Tom Brady throws one of the best back shoulder throws in football”
Next week its “Aaron Rodgers throws one of the best back shoulder throws in football”
I do enjoy it when both of them break down plays and use their analysis to make points, but listen closely week to week and see if you pick up on these kind of things
