Straight up trade: Dennis Dixon for the Eagles Mike Kafka?
Just a thought, but who knows? Maybe it'll strike a chord if the Steelers and Eagles hear of it. I thought Kafka did a solid job as a traditional drop back passer when he relieved Vick two weeks ago. Dixon's skill sets would be a perfect match for the Eagle, a "Michael Vick, Vince Young, Dennis Dixon" QB arsenal that would allow an offense designed for their talents to keep ticking without a burp of one or two goes down. Meanwhile, in Kafka the Steelers would get a good fit for our scheme. Thoughts?

These trade posts are so pointless. The Eagles would not trade Kafka for Dixon. Kafka is like three times as good as Dixon and is going to be there #2 QB in the future

I think Kafka is their real #2
I would rather him than VY.

Kafkaesque
I have watched Kafka’s metamorphosis since the trials of his Northwestern days. I think the general judgement is that Kafka has a real future in this league and Dixon is very questionable. If you burrow into their stats you will see the great disparity in accuracy. And Kafka read defenses like a hungry artist, while Dixon sometime seems to be facing the Great Wall of China.

This trade idea prompts
great existential angst in me. Thanks for the clarity.

If we trade for Kafka, we should also try to land Kierkegaard and Proust.....
…..except Proust simply can’t let go of the past.

I am not laughing like a school girl
but I am enjoying it.
In high school I was allowed to read The Trial instead of Tale of Two Cities for one of my English options. I realized that I hated Dickens (and Hardy for that matter). Kafka worked just fine for me while Dickens made me realize the folly of paying an author by the word.

Polamalu for Vick
I was thinking it might not be a bad idea, even if the trade was done straight up. Polamalu has better Madden ratings, but Vick has good mobility. Mobility is one of the most important aspects to having a good team. Plus we would have great fan support and jersey sales. Also ben rothlesberger would have some competition at the QB spot. Competition makes everybody better.

The Steelers favor a vertical passing attack – like San Diego – and Kafka is a straight up WCO guy; he doesn’t have the arm for the kind of throws that the Steelers playbook would demand of him. He’s fine where he is.

Hey Bluegrass...
Any vertical throwers from among those cut yesterday? What about Antonio Brown’s old QB, Dan LeFevour, or Pat Devlin?
Dan LeFevour
Pat Devlin
Tom Brandstater
Adam Weber
Graham Harrell
Drew Willy
Sage Rosenfels
Scott Tolzien
Ryan Perrilloux
McLeod Bethel-Thompson
Josh McCown
Jonathan Crompton
Thaddeus Lewis
Hunter Cantwell
Levi Brown
actually
I thought Lefevour, Tolzien would make decent NFL QBs with time. Rosenfels has been a decent QB in the NFL and would be a good backup. The others I have little knowledge of except Perrilloux and he didn’t even impress me in college.

Tolzein is gone anyway

I'd get McCown
He’s played a bit I think and he’s serviceable. In a pinch. Rosenfels could do but he’s getting old I think.
Absolutely!
Plus don’t forget, Polamalu Vick intercepted Vick, but the pass was tipped. Vick, on the other hand, nailed Polomalu straight up…man-o-mano. That $100M contract would be a heck of a hit, though.
Ps. Err…Seton Hall, Nietzsche and Stone Cold…I agree with you totally, which was the point of this whimsical post…to put a positive spin on Dixon—a post-cut mojo—to pull the wool over Eagle eyes. Jeeesh! You blew it! :<)
No OTAs, good or bad?
On one hand, rookie QBs who might otherwise have made it would have had a tough time picking up an NFL offense in this shortened off-season, which could mean one or more of the cut QBs could be gems-in-the-rough. On the other hand, Dixon knows the offense, so he can be pressed into service if needed, whereas a newcomer would not. Thoughts?
After watching Devlin's you tube...
Of the few ‘waiver wire’ QBs I watched on you tube who could be upgrades over Dixon re a drop back passer and passing accuracy, Pat Devlin reminds me of a skinny Leftwich, i.e., a strong armed, accurate pocket passer, although he’s possible less mobile than Lefty—but has a better release. (How could Dixon have so totally missed the wide-open Brown from 20 yards away in the last game? I’m in a wheelchair, and I could have completed that pass!) Here’s an interesting video matching Devlin with Cinci’s new rookie starter, Dalton (who’s looked good in preseason). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EOBxUdi3glQ&feature=related
Make it so, number one.
