CB Crezdon Butler Signs With Cardinals
It looks as if Pittsburgh West claimed another Steeler.
Second-year CB Crezdon Butler tweeted Sunday he signed with the Arizona Cardinals, and his former secondary coach Ray Horton - who is now Arizona's defensive coordinator.
The move was expected by many in SteelerNation, as Arizona has become a popular secondary location for Steelers players and coaches. Along with Horton, Cardinals head coach Ken Whisenhunt and offensive line coach Russ Grimm are former Steelers coaches. There have been several players who have left Pittsburgh for Arizona since Whisenhunt was hired in 2007, notably, Dan Kreider, Joey Porter, Clark Haggans, Bryant McFadden (who was eventually traded back to Pittsburgh) and Alan Faneca.

Nice
It would have been interesting to see if Gay had be cut if they would have signed him, most likely not! Instead we give them a young player that does have some upside.
They really should realize by now
that if you cant be original, its better to emulate the steelers than to try and snatch all their scraps. It made sense when it was just cowher’s old guys, but this is a little ridiculous.
"We don't know how to draft so we'll just wait Pittsburgh release their draftees and pick'em up."
That’s what Arizona GM’s must be thinking.

I’m happy for Crez. He worked his ass off and really deserved a roster spot somewhere. Dude was one of my favorites… at least we know they’ll treat him well in AZ. Not like he got kicked in the teeth and sent to Cincy…

Yep, Good Luck Crez.

I believe it says in the Bible that you should leave your gleanings in your field for the poor...
…for strangers, widows, orphans, and the Arizona Cardinals.
I’ll check with Flanders or Rev Lovejoy on that, but I will admit Arizona spends a lot of time in our fields after harvest, picking up what we left behind.

Best of luck to Crezdon.
It would have been nice if he could have made our PS because I suspect there will be an opening next preseason but a steady job in hand beats a chance at a job later.

cards are so thin at CB
cards plucked a bengals rookie CB too. same deal, team hoped to get him on the practice squad.

I'm not entirely happy
because I think he might turn into a pretty good player. I have to assume the coaching staff is better at talent evaluation than I am, but I’d be surprised if he doesn’t make a name for himself somewhere along the line. Steelers should have kept him.

If Lewis was further ahead
and if Allen has more ceiling, it can’t be that much of a surprise.

Right
I think Allen is just largely an unknown quantity at this point, due to injury and being a rookie. Obviously, they like what they HAVE seen from him, I just got excited when Butler made that INT, because our DB’s can’t catch…

That catch probably sealed his fate
It isn’t the Steeler way for good CB to make interceptions. j/k
I knew the cuts would hurt this year. There were just too many really good prospects but it is better to have to cut good prospects than to not have enough.

You're right
I’m with you. I liked him too.
I can't wait for Willie Gay, the Cardinal
And have Big Ben break huddle, get up to the line, find #22 in the red/white, see that he is in his customary spot- 9 yards off the ball, then pick him apart the whole way down the field as Whiz and Horton tear their hair out.
Oh, and good luck to Crez Butler – always kinda liked him!
Might be interesting
If I am not mistaken, the reason B-Mac did not succeed in Arizona was that the Cardinals utilize a different scheme… maybe more press coverage. Anyways, a caveat: if he does succeed there, it does not mean he could succeed anywhere.
Which I guess makes Arizona the anti-New York, clearly shrouded in racial ambiguity

I liked Crez until he got burned for a TD against Carolina and then didn't FC that punt he fumbled....
…the one where the coverage guy whacked him before the ball arrived…..
…and then I remembered that on his great interception and return, it happened because the intended receiver fell down.
I’m not sure the coach saw enough consistency in Crezdon, and whether they think the game can still be a little too fast for him. It seems like he can really make the plays, both positive and negative.

Crezdon didnt have the skill set LeBeau requires
Of his nickel corner either. To be able to play blitz, zone, man and the run. Gay may not be brilliant at any one of those facets, but he does have the necessary skill set to allow LeBeau to run wild

It wasn’t just him getting beat, but the way he got beat, he didn’t make up any ground. He’s a fast player, but when he got beat there it was exactly the way an athletic corner shouldn’t.
When I saw that I honestly thought “Wow, you don’t even see McFadden get beat like that.”
I wondered how badly that would hurt him.
Agreed
though you do see B-Mac get beat like that… or rather get faked in the wrong direction, do a half-turn and then jump up in dismay.

Good luck to Crezdon! Still believe they should have kept him over ...
‘Lack of any play’ Willie Gay. Gay must have pictures of Tomlin, Dick Lebeau, two female chimpanzees and several empty bottles of Jack Daniels to continue to make this team despite being so awful. But I digress. What’s done is done. It’s Ravens Week!
Grats to Butler and the Cards!
I’m glad for Butler and the Cardinals. They are getting a great prospect for nothing. He’ll fit right into their system, and who knows where his career will lead him!
grain of salt
I hope only the Best
for Crezdon in AZ, hope he has a good long career. I just don’t think he was necessarily what the Steeler D was looking for

Cardinals
I think the Cardinals made a good move on this X Steeler and we will see, I would have liked to have seen Gay replaced unless I am the only one seeing Gay getting burnt and costing us game, Because you wait and see that he will be benched by the 2 game for a younger player.
