Ryan Clark won't be playing
Everybody I hate to say it but Clark has a condition that won't allow him to play first round. If you remember a few years ago he had to sit out because of it. He once played there and almost lost his career. Any update on Cortez Allen because we are already low on DBs, even though Tebow won't be a threat..We have a ton of injuries, defense will need to be stellar to get us to Indy.....

Tomlin didn't rule him out...
in his press conference today. He said he’d meet with the team doctors tomorrow back in Pittsburgh.
I’m not too concerned if he doesn’t though, it’s not like Denver has a high-powered passing attack. Anyone know who would be next in line for Clark? Mundy or Will Allen?
Clark is more valuable than just a pass defender
He is terrific in run support, blitzing and generally covering for Troy when he roams all over tr field. And Denver has a very underrated deep passing game, so my thinking is – Clark is very, very important in this game.
Also, he did not play last time the Steelers visited Mile High (2009?) but he deliberately worked out before the game to test his body, and he did not have any effects.
Life's a journey, not a destination.
Yes...it's official
Mundy is playing.

doubt he'll play
He easily could play, but in the past Clark was always benched when they played there as the thin air in Denver causes problem with his blood due to his sickle cell trait
Clark won't play
Life-threatening situations should be avoided, regarding the circumstances.
"I think every quarterback should believe they’re the best. Do I think there are better quarterbacks than me? Possibly. But would I take anyone else with the ball in their hands at the end of the game? I don’t think so." - Ben Roethlisberger-
This.
The man nearly died last time he tried to play at this altitude.
We don’t need him to shut down the joke that is Tebow any way, we’ll be fine with Mundy. Will be glad to see him back when we play the Ravens the week after.

Agreed.
Not worth risking your life. Ryan Clark should sit this one out and should not take any criticism for doing so.
Not for certain
I remember an interview where Clark said everything that became a problem last time has now been removed and there fore can no longer cause him the same problem. He still may not play but I think he said he would play in a playoff game in Denver if he was cleared to. I think the altitude may cause him other problems that might not be life threatening but still may force him to sit unless he is told there is no danger.
How was the problem removed?
He has sickle cell which causes clots at altitude. I think I read that it was these clots that took out his spleen. Unless there’s been a cure found that I’m unaware of, then the only thing guaranteed is his spleen is safe now (since it’s gone). Any other organs are fair game for a blood clot.
No way should he play in this game. Even if it were for the title, that is nothing compared to risking someone’s death. It is still just a game.

Too big of a risk.
Ryan Mundy is an outstanding back up that has played very well for us this year. There is no reason to risk Ryan Clark for the Broncos when his services will be much needed the deeper we go into the playoffs. IMHO.
HERE WE GO STEELERS!
"Our Father, who art in Pittsburgh, Football be thy game. Thy Kingdom come, thy will be done, at Heinz Field as it is in Heaven. Give us this day, a stellar D and forgive us our bogus fines, as we (sorta) forgive Goodell who trespasses against us. And lead us not into defeat, but deliver us a Victory. For thine is The Steelers, the power and glory of climbing the STAIRWAY TO 7."
The last time he sat out Denver
The docs had said that his first incident basically had done all the damage that could be done and there was little risk however the coaches kept him out anyway.
I don’t think that’s correct.
As far as I am aware, sickle cell trait when mixed with high anaebolic respiration at such a high altitude leads to a very high risk of a blood clot occuring. The loss of his spleen does not mean all the potential damage has been done. A clot could just as easily occur in any other vital organ.
I don’t want Ryan to play if he’s putting that much on the line, I’d rather risk losing a game than risk losing such a great player.

Clark could probably play with no problems
and who knows, maybe he will. But with some pretty solid depth, such as Mundy, I could see Steelers management playing it safe and benching him for the game.
(can you imagine the media shit-storm if they played him and there were complications?)
Bound to cover just a little more ground.

if the doctors clear him and he has problems or worse dies
then I can see the organization getting their butts sued big time – and I’d be routing for Clark’s family to take them to the cleaners.
He’s a player and he’ll want to play – the only reason medical staff are required is to save them from themselves. If they let him play, then they are a waste of space.

The Steelers and the odds
Even without Clark and Mendenhall and a hobbled Rothlisberger, the Steelers should be 3 TD favorites over the Broncos.
The Broncos are worse than any JV team.
