Hines Ward isn't dead yet !
Steeler's Management: Bring out yer dead.
[a man puts a body on the cart]
Steeler's Fans: Here's one.
Steeler's Management: That'll be ninepence.
Hines Ward: I'm not dead.
Steeler's Management: What?
Steeler's Fans. There's your ninepence.
Hines Ward: I'm not dead.
Steeler's Management: 'Ere, he says he's not dead.
Steeler's Fans: Yes he is.
Hines Ward: I'm not.
Steeler's Management:He isn't.
Steeler's Fans: Well, he will be soon, he's very ill.
Hines Ward: I'm getting better.
Steeler's Fans: No you're not, you'll be stone dead in a moment.
Steeler's Management: Well, I can't take him like that. It's against regulations.
Hines Ward: I don't want to go on the cart.
Steeler's Fans: Oh, don't be such a baby.
Steeler's Management: I can't take him.
Hines Ward: I feel fine.
Steeler's Fans: Oh, do me a favor.
Steeler's Management: I can't.
Steeler's Fans: Well, can you hang around for a couple of minutes? He won't be long.
Steeler's Management: I promised I'd be at the Robinsons'. They've lost nine today.
Steeler's Fans: Well, when's your next round?
Steeler's Management: Thursday.
Hines Ward:I think I'll go for a walk.
Steeler's Fans: You're not fooling anyone, you know. Isn't there anything you could do?
Hines Ward: I feel happy. I feel happy.
[the Dead Collector glances up and down the street furtively, then silences the Body with his a whack of his club]
Steeler's Fans: Ah, thank you very much.
Steeler's Management: Not at all. See you on Thursday.
Steeler's Fans: Right.

Liked it of course
The surprise was that down the stretch with Bens injury they did not utilize ward more often. Especially in the empty set. I kept wondering when he was going to get out there and get free between the coverages. When he would allow Ben that security blanket in an offense he and Ben ( along with miller ) know all too well. Alas, it did not happen, and I am still scratching my head. Ward has another year or 2. No one is guaranteed anything in the NFL, not consistency, not longevity and not health. Though his skills are passing with time Ward had proven that he has all 3. I thought they could have gone to him in those last 4 games more. Relied on his savvy vet leadership. They did not. I might be one of the few that think that Hines Ward deserves….no the Steelers deserve to get Hines for at least another year. He can still be productive and Provide the savvy leadership that this team desperately needs.
Impose your will.
well said
while I realize also that Hine’s time is close to done, I think he has enough overall to add to the team in’12. That relates to receiving, blocking, leadership, etc. I’m not opposed to dropping some key veterans for the better of the team, as hard as that is. But Hines is not one of them yet !

nice job
I have to admit I’ve been a little offended every time I read one of those “bring him back for sentimental reasons” or “we owe it to him for the past” kind of things. Hines Ward is not a cheerleader for the sidelines or a guy who wants to go in for a couple of catches so he can pad his entry in the record books. He truly loves the game and being a real part of a team.
And he thinks he has something left to contribute. I really really hope he’s right and I’m willing to believe him.
It’s killing me to even think this but if he can play a role on another team, I’ll cheer him on wherever he goes and be glad that he’s still playing. I would rather see that than to see him stand on the sidelines during Steeler games.
I think he’s done. You can’t tell Ward from a lineman now. He’d fit in better if he was attached to a string and floated down Madison Avenue on Thanksgiving.
like the post
i challenge anyone who wants ward gone to come up with another veteran WR who would bring more to the team than ward but at the same time be willing to be a 4th string WR for a small contract
spot on
