ive been known to be a homer when it comes to ex-buckeyes

but i always thought smith was never given a decent chance in the NFL. lost the ravens starting job to flacco in his rookie year when he missed the whole preseason, then played decently with the 49ers before having a fallout with mike singletary. He probably replaces dixon, who may have been headed out the door anyway. i guess it all comes down to what happens to charlie

Agreed...

Not an OSU fan, but I agree that Troy never got much of a chance. Never got a chance to play in Baltimore after his preseason illness, and played OK considering the 49ers didn’t have much of an offense around him. It would be interesting to see how he can develop on a stable team with some talent around him. I could see him as #3 in 2012, then replace Byron as #2 in the future.
